Had that quite a few times. Then there's the fact it can be hard to pull the tab!

Re: Can openers!

The height of dyspraxic frustration-fancying a tin of rice pudding and you can't work out how to use the can opener !

Re: Dyspraxia and N(V)LD

I have never considered myself as having ADHD but mild ADD does seem to fit. To some extent all of ASD,dysgraphia, dyspraxia and NVLD fits.

Dyspraxia- a broader approach is needed?

#dyspraxia Dyspraxia -are we getting the full picture? I don't know about other countries but in the UK the emphasis seems to be strongly on problems with physical coordination to the relative neglect of other aspects. This seems to be especially relevant to adults with dyspraxia. Whereas things lik...

Re: Dyspraxia and N(V)LD

I agree the two conditions(Dyspraxia and ADD/ADHD) are not identical. However, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it's reckoned that c50%of people with dyspraxia also have some level of ADHD. https://www.apraxia-kids.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/richardson.pdf See ADHD. Apparently the inattent...

Re: Dyspraxia and N(V)LD

It was just on the basis of what was said on an NLD and neurodivergence facebook group(inc dyspraxia) . That people had found what gets called dyspraxia in the UK often fits with people getting dxed as NLD in Canada/USA. It is possible that they are comorbid and there are different preferences as to...

Dyspraxia and N(V)LD

For same set of symptoms in UK likely dx= dyspraxia? In Canada/USA likely dx= n(v)ld?

Re: Flashback to the early 60s

Whilst accepting that times were less enlightened back in the early 60s in terms of knowledge and understanding about such things quite a lot of progress has been made in the following 50+ years. The trouble is the psychiatric profession makes judgements and then is incapable of stepping outside its...

Flashback to the early 60s

Flashback to the early 60s. My first school was observant enough to recommend I was taken to see someone albeit it was thought it might be what is now called cerebral palsy. Autism was a narrow diagnosis . NVLD unheard of. Dyspraxia ,or whatever it was called then , far less well known. With the ini...
