Re: Disability line etiquette

I'm certainly not condoning victimising disabled people . Ironically though your stance smacks of 'Guilty till proven innocent' . That indeed could result in the victimisation of disabled people. A way round such an issue would be to have a card to be used in such situations that states any disabili...

Re: Disability line etiquette

I'm not doubting that severity matters, but that can be hard to judge when interacting with/seeing a person for a short time. We should not jump to the conclusion, as many have done in the past, that a physical disability is necessarily more severe than a mental/psychological disability. I wouldn't ...

Re: Disability line etiquette

I am totally against a person with no physical and/or mental health problems 'faking it' as you two put it. However I'd caution against judging anyone as 'faking it' based on a short period of seeing them. Not all disabilities are instantly noticeable . We live in an environment where a right wing g...

Re: Disability line etiquette

I would scarcely call dyspraxia a 'minor' condition . In any case some of us have several non physical(hidden disabilities?) . E.G I have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and schizoaffective disorder . I most probably also have dyspraxia .That was mentioned in the report of my autism assessme...

Re: Disability line etiquette

I'm against anything that fosters a dishonest, discriminatory and prejudicial belief that some types of disability are less disabling than others , and the effects of some types of disability trump the effects of others . What you suggest leads us down that path.

Re: Disability line etiquette

Should it really be about whether one has a physical disability or not ? What about people with ASD or mental illness that may also find it hard to stand in the queue for a long time ? There can be both physical and psychological reasons why a person may find it hard to queue for a lengthy amount of...

Re: I did the general cognitive assessment at Cognifit

If it makes you feel any better firemonkey, I had a big post typed out - then accidentally refreshed the page. I then gave up, because I was rather frustrated. My own results were mostly high - as I said, it had a lot in common with video games, so I found most of it pretty easy. My hand-eye coordi...

Re: I did the general cognitive assessment at Cognifit

thanks for clearing that up---I was under the impression it held more validity than that See this https://support.cognifit.com/s/article/cognifit-validity-and-reliability?language=en_US Results As you can see below, the data are above .8 in more than 50% of the cases, and the rest are between .6 an...

Re: I did the general cognitive assessment at Cognifit

Hi Firemokkey Please can you add some context to these figures. Did you find any areas that were strengths? What do the categories and scores mean? Do the higher numbers denote a higher or lower degree of impairment? https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y126/labile/Cognifit%20personal%20results.png Pr...

Re: Dyspraxia and Handwriting

I had to have handwriting lessons when 11-12 ,at prep school, because my handwriting was so bad . Now I would say my handwriting is legible, but crudely formed. I'm a slow writer. If I try to write faster the quality of my handwriting significantly deteriorates .

Re: we have a make up thread - so what about shaving?

I use an electric razor. It's not as close a shave as using an ordinary razor, but far less chance to cut myself . When I used an ordinary razor I had to hold the razor upside down to get a proper shave.
