Re: One of those moments

I’m relatively fortunate with injuries.

I do have some spectacular ‘why or how did i do that?!’ moments.

One of my finer ones now dating back many years back in a day when I still had hair worth combing. For some inexplicable reason I went into the fridge to look for my comb.

Re: Personal grooming

Yeah, I would be hesitant to like this too heavily with dyspraxia because although motor difficulties in the hands can make the finer arts of hair styling, precision shaving etc difficult... being dirty is being dirty. More likely linked to personality or at a stretch if they’re going through a time...

Re: Weight Lifting and Strength Training form

Uncertainty definitely seems to be our enemy in a lot of cases and getting and following clear instructions consistently can be a struggle. Have any of your PT's indicated why they find you difficult to work with? Have you mentioned Dyspraxia to any of them? I think this, for me is a reason why I’m...

Re: Sensory overload - how does it feel?

Aww sensory overload. This is the part of my dyspraxia which switches on the easiest and quickest. And it really is all senses competing strongly for my attention all at once. Sound, conversation, interruption, task at hand, touch, space the feeling of being rushed and crowded. One of my pet peeves ...

Re: Does Anyone have Kids or want Kids

I think ultimately you should never say ‘never’. If you asked me this ten years ago, then I would have immediately shut the conversation down as I was single, had less than zero social life, didn’t envisage myself ever finding love or a partner. Children weren’t even remotely in my thoughts and if t...

Re: Weight Lifting and Strength Training form

A lack of co-ordination is quite common amongst dyspraxics. I guess weight training, and actually many forms of gym exercise can be dangerous if you do it incorrectly or have poor posture and co-ordination. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. I’m not sporty, nor Athletic. I don’t go to a gym ...

Re: feeling like needs are not met

It’s all got to be a bit ‘give and take’. Sometimes it easy to forget that being dyspraxic can be mentally exhausting. We spend our entire day trying to hold it all together with our brains being bombarded and overloaded. Many dyspraxics find day to day activities extremely cognitively challenging. ...

If I were you, I’d veto their veto.

Honestly.. how ridiculous. Fancy forbidding someone to panic? I’d return the compliment and forbid them to be a knob.

Re: Public transport

I’m generally ok with it. But I do tend to plan it all first and do my research which helps a lot.

The Paris train station was a nightmarish maze though.

Re: Answering the phone?

I'm in an office/admin job now where I don't answer the phone or make calls very often. When I do, I feel like everyone is listening and waiting for me to say something stupid. It's the unpredictability of other people that makes it so hard I think. At least with an email you can take your time to ...

Re: Hair

It’s been a very long time since I had my eye in my eyes and that isn’t simply thanks to short haircuts. I’ve been thinning out ever since I got into my 20s.

Now I’m heading towards my 40s.. have very little left on top 🤣

Re: Is Anyone Sensitive To Noise or Odors?

I do get over sensitised quite easily. For me the triggers are people noise, crowds and to a lesser extent smells. I hate people noise. I really do struggle cognitively to make sense of people noise. It’s although my brain is very slow to interpret speech. People without knowledge of these condition...

Re: Should this forum have a paralell Facebook Group?

I don’t know if anything like the old msn messenger exists anymore, but if it does it could potentially be a more cost effective way to have live text chat. Ultimately, if you wanted to. You could have both. A FB presence (perhaps with a closed group) and a chat room type thing to include the non fa...

Re: Finding a hobby(for dyspraxics!!!)

I personally have relatively few hobbies or at least things I do often enough or long term enough to qualify them as such. I do like motorsport though, particularly F1 (for all its faults) and this is probably the only single thing that I’ve followed with a passion since the inception of my interest...
