Re: NHS diagnosis (non)progress - neuro specialists Yorkshire?
Let me just say that I feel you pain on getting a diagnosis. I tried this a few years back. I went to my GP who had never encountered anyone asking about Dyspraxia and referred me to a neuro-psychologist at a local hospital who, similar to your experiences, proved to be set back rather than progress...

Re: Learning to Fly with Dyspraxia
Hi JL, You haven't given us your name, but welcome nevertheless the forum. I've only had a trial flying lesson, however as I'm about to move within striking distance of an airfield it's something I'm considering taking up too. One thing I've noticed from the users of this board is that there's no on...

Re: Keys
Creative, does it depends on the type of key. Large keys that go into similar large keyholes are less of an issue than small, modern keys that have to fit into a relatively small slit and more care and attention has to be paid to which way up the key is and getting it aligned straight into the keyho...

Re: Adult Fiction
I'm not an especially prolific reader, unlike my other half who consumes books within a few days and having bought Deathly Hallows on the midnight of its release finished it the same day! I, alas, take things at a rather more sedate pace and generally read at speaking rate, so it takes me a while to...

Sometimes I get frustrated by my clumsiness but most of the time I ignore it or laugh at it.

Re: Ive Got Swine Flu!!!!!!
Really sorry to hear that, Kirsty. On the plus side it's not proving to be serious in the vast majority of people but I can imagine it's annoying to have to be cooped up for a while. I do hope you get over it soon; keep us updated!

Re: Disliking Other People of Your Sex?
I understand where you're coming from, Icarus. I suspect it may well come from experiences at school which over a long period of time lead to direct relationships in a certain way. I had many years of awful experiences with playing sports at school. Aside from never having any ability in any sportin...

Re: shaking
It would be interesting to know if there's been research done into shaking of various sorts with dyspraxia. I'm sure I'm more prone to this than most and can be due to diet, temperature, exercise. Being startled can also make me shake, and anecdotally it seems to last longer and be more pronounced t...

Re: socalising
It can certainly be difficult as you may find the types of socialising or the venues that work for you aren't the places friends or peers enjoy. I have difficulties socialising well in large groups and also in places where there's a lot of background noise as I find it very difficult to make out wha...

Re: Trouble Feeling the Pedals?
I've found this with the pedals. What sort of shoes do you wear? You'll fine it's easier with traditionally soled shoes as trainers these days do tend to have some time of suspension built in.

Sky News discuss dyspraxia
Paper reviewer Louisa Fletcher admitted having dyspraxia during looking at a press story about autism, shown at 06:30 this morning. Went into some detail about dyspraxia and autism, explaining difficulties such as driving but also highlighted some plus points, as she has a photographic memory. Clear...

Likewise, I'm afraid. My handwriting is terrible and I find filling in forms error free extremely difficult. Unfortunately I don't know of any tips to help with this at the moment.

Re: Official Diagnoses?
Littlemadangel - there does certainly seem to be a recurring theme on the forum that if you're academically bright and quiet and just get on with things you're generally overlooked as having a problem.
