Re: Division of labour after a baby
I quite like cooking now but used to hate it. I do think sometimes I'm a bit paranoid and I think everything is down to having dyspraxia - I now realise that a lot of people do struggle with things. I used to think everyone else could do everything brilliantly, but I'm starting to realise it's not t...

Re: Hello everybody
Hi there I thought I'd sent a reply, but I think it couldn't have posted properly. Welcome to the forum. Like you, I'm 47 (soon to be 48 though - how did that happen?!) I found out I had dyspraxia only about three years ago, but it made a lot of sense to me when I found out about it. My daughter is ...

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hi Katherine Good to hear back from you. It's always hard finding a balance isn't it? I think you're probably like me, and you like your day to be structured. I get long holidays from college, which sounds great (and it is in a lot of ways!) but I struggle sometimes when nothing is planned. I'm plea...

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hi Katherine I really feel for you, and can relate to a lot of what you say. My 'baby' is now 14 (where did the time go?!) so I hope I might have something helpful to say. Although none of us are experts at being parents, and I'm sure everyone finds it a struggle sometimes, dyspraxic or not. I think...

Re: Essay Writing
These are all great ideas. I'm studying with the Open University - English Literature - which I love and have just finished the first year (AA100 - The Arts Past and Present). I was getting quite stressed out over my essays sometimes - although they turned out well in the end - but sometimes the str...

Re: hello
Hi Mary I'm pleased you found what I said helpful, and I hope you do manage to get some help now. I often write things down, about how I'm feeling, or just to get things straight in my mind, and find it really helps, even if I don't give it to anyone else to read it still helps me. I tend to write n...

Re: hello
Hi Mary Sorry to hear you're having these difficulties. It's frustrating isn't it? The NHS don't seem to know much about dyspraxia. I'd suggest writing down a list of things you're struggling with because that takes the emotion out of it and makes sure you get across clearly what you want to say. Th...

Re: Could I ever drive?
Hi Rummur Welcome to the forum, and sorry to see from your other posts that you're having a bit of a hard time at the moment. It sounds like you're very hard on yourself - but please don't take that as a criticism, because I can feel exactly the same! I think all this positive thinking, where people...

Re: Dyspraxia and associated conditions
Hi Ayne I'm pleased the reply was helpful. I think people with dyspraxia are all different, and struggle with different things. The strange thing is that I have neat handwriting (and love writing) and play the piano, but I struggled driving, riding a bike, etc. I think sometimes I have more problem ...

Re: Dyspraxia and associated conditions
Hi there! Welcome to the forum and I'm pleased you've found us. I hope you get as much out of the forums as I do. It sounds like you're having a tough time and I expect a lot of people on here will relate to what you say. I'm 46 now, and didn't know anything about dyspraxia (let alone that I had it!...

Re: Does anyone else make alot of lists?
I just noticed, Jake, that you said maybe you do it because you can organise things and it's satisfying. I think that's right. I;m not very organised in my every day life (although I'm learning), I tend to be untidy and forget things - like where are my keys etc. But I can memorise lists of things. ...

Re: Does anyone else make alot of lists?
I make lots of lists and didn't realise until recently that other people do it! I think it may be a dyspraxic thing. I love making lists of things like the kings of England and their reigns and learning them by heart! I'm not sure why I do it but I find it relaxing and stops me over-thinking. I alwa...

Re: not yet officially diagnosed but already struggling
Hi Aurum I really feel for you, as I can relate to a lot of what you say. I always think the most frustrating thing about dyspraxia and these type of issues is that it's hard getting people to believe you struggle. Since I've found out I've got dyspraxia two years ago (I'm 46 now) my life is better,...
