Re: Need to get "official" diagnosis

Hi SansaBaby First of all, Welcome to our forum. I really feel for you as I cannot imagine this post was easy to write and I can see that you're frightened about potential outcomes from asking for help and this being misinterpreted or dismissed in some way. I hope we can inspire you to go out and se...

Re: Joiner

I'm assuming Joiner as in wood working We're all unique individuals and whilst joinery and dyspraxiaö seemingly don't logically fit, some of us can and do defy the stereotypes. So what aspects of joinery are causing you most difficulty and what do you see as possible solutions that might work for you?

Re: Stacking shelves

Hi Stacking shelves whilst sounding theoretically like an easy job is probably anything but. The idea of unpacking 70 boxes in 30 mins is making my head spin as to be honest it sounds impossible and I think you need to have the freedom to do it in a way that is workable and comfortable for you. I gu...

Re: Workplace needs assessment

Hi Leanne Have you broached the subject of dyspraxia with your immediate boss/HR people yet. How did (s)he.they react? There are various organisations offering needs assessments and they should explain in detail of how the assessment process works and be willing to answer any specific questions you ...

Re: Not very dyspraxic talents

No hard n fast rules or time limits here.

Juggling to me at least to me seems very typically undyspraxic but why should we ever be constrained by the notion of "you have dyspraxia don't even bother trying that"

Hi and welcome and apologies for a lack of reply to your post thus far. I can't say I have been busy keeping my flat tidy 8-) So by tidyness are you talking rethe organisation of your class related paperwork, lesson plans DfE gumpf etc or is it physical tidyness of the rooms you teach from? Is there...

Re: Hello

Scotty You're welcome It would be worth asking your GP if there is any mention in your medical notes. Getting an assessment as an adult on the NHS, when not in education does seem to be a challenge and not all can afford to or are willing to pay for a private assessment . If you're employed directly...

Re: new - some advice please.

You're welcome Articulating thoughts into cogent speech often/always seems to be part of the difficulty, Something feels wrong but it is nigh impossible to put it into words that others can understand, so they're apt to dismiss you. Frustration and anxiety further confound ones ability to make sense...

Re: Need advice for dealing with human resources and also for an upcoming phone interview

Always worth asking these things as it does demonstrate that you've read their role description thoroughly. When will you hear the result? We have the Equality Act in the UK making it illegal for employers or service providers to discriminate against a person on the grounds of disability, gender, se...

Hi Scotty and welcome to our little online community It may be that you just work with a bunch of (insert appropriate expletive)! Hi Colin and a very warm welcome to our forum, I'm glad you have found us. I think you do have some quite strong indicators and it would be worth considering trying to obtain a formal assessment Hold my pen weird - Many of us do . . but if your way works/is most comfortable for you, don't be afraid ...

Re: new - some advice please.

Hi Kater . what does dyspraxia with writing "feel" like? I'm assuming you mean writing with dyspraxia here? We're all different, my handwriting was/is not the tidiest especially when I need(ed) to try and get a lot down quickly and I was always forgetting my full stops and capital letters....

Re: Masters in Tax

Don't forget that you can afford to be a rightly proud of what you've achieved so far. I can only try to imagine the amount of work and study this has entailed. Is it possible that your progress has so amazed family, friends and colleagues, that they haven't necessarily fully understood how much you...

Re: Dyspraxia and sex - awkward

Hi and welcome I'm not sure many people would have the courage to be as open and honest about personal difficulties of this nature. To my knowledge, you're the first to openly disclose so I have to say I've no idea how prevalent your condition is within the general population and various sub-groups....
