Re: Exhausted from work

I think anyone would be exhausted after standing on their feet for 8 hrs. a day, don't you? Maybe your being too hard on yourself. Dyspraxic or not, you're only human.

Re: "Being floppy and unstable"

I confess I know nothing about this except that I have very bad coordination with my left hand. Can't use a blood pressure cuff because of it. Is this the kind of thing you might be talking about or have I totally missed the mark?

Re: Anyone else have low muscle tone and bad back pain?

I have low muscle tone and have had back surgery for it. I've always had low muscle tone, I heard it's a dyspraxic thing, because we generally are not as athletic as some people because of muscle coordination, eye hand coordination, and balance issues. I've read a few medical journal articles (Ameri...

Re: Getting credited for what you know

Last year, I started working again after a year's sabbatical to deal with health issues resulting from a surgical procedure that left me anemic, and even more fatigued than I normally am. I decided to take a job at an LGBT community center whose computer documentation system is quite complicated due...

Re: How do you balance what you need from your social relationships?

I've always struggled with this, and actually lost a very good friend some years ago because I don't drive. They straight up asked me, "why is it that I'm always the one who has to do all of the driving?" At the time I didn't even know what dyspraxia was so I really didn't feel confident t...

Re: Dyspraxia flare-ups?

Stress, exhaustion, multiple stimuli depletes everyone's cognitive ability. For those of us who are already challenged, our symptoms simply become more blatant.

Re: I fear that my Dyspraxia will affect my future job

You should probably consider career counseling. There are also some good books you can read such as "I Could Do Anything If Only I knew What It Was" by Barbara Sherr. She is an out-of-the box career counselor. I don't know about the book's availability in the UK however, you might have to ...

yes, I have that exact same problem. I can't blame it on my age, because I've always been this way. They say exercise boosts your energy levels but I'm too tired to exercise.

Re: Did anyone see the derogatory story about a teacher with Dyspraxia who lost his employment Tribunal

Yes, read about this via Dyspraxia&Life. The news articles make for an exasperating read and are another example of shoddy journalism from people who should know better. I know a complaint is being lodged: it will be interesting to see the outcome. It's important that things like this are picke...

Re: Slight Work Phobia

I've been struggling with the same question myself for the past 18 mos. Besides dyspraxia, I have physical disabilities including diabetes which makes work even harder since ever changing blood sugar levels ( exacerbated by stress) makes all of my dyspraxic symptoms even worse with regard to memory ...

Re: So terrified not coping

Invisible, It really sound as though you've been traumatized by having failed at previous endeavors. My guess is that most of us, if not all of us, have been traumatized by our failures in life. I know I have. The response in trauma is flight, fight, or freeze. I know that sometimes when I encounter...

Re: Advice - Dyspraxic son

Welcome! I did not know that I was dyspraxic growing up. But then again, I'm in my 60's, and I don't even know if they knew what it was back then. I think it would be helpful for him to know that everyone's brain works differently and to capitalize on his strength in order to build self esteem. Buil...
