Re: Acquired dyspraxia
acquired dyspraxia is extremely rare according to the literature. Have you had a traumatic brain injury or cerebral vascular accident?

Re: metabolic disorders
I think it is an addiction for me as well. It was easier to deal with when I was young and able to push myself to lift weights. I was also on Adderall for ADD back then and that always lit a fire under my butt. Now I can't tolerate Adderall anymore, and I am back to my usual sedentary self; fighting...

Re: Why are people so mean
you're right, 100% correct. we live in a very cynical world. as long as you know that you are not doing anything wrong, don't worry about what others think. particularly when they are strangers.

Re: Problem at new job, help?
Well, I can't tell you what to do; that's up to you. However, if they have made an accommodation for you that works, I would take it. People forget about stuff very quickly, mostly because everyone is self-involved. They all worry about their own issues and just getting through the shift. At least t...

Dyspraxia and Counter Empathy
I found out that I am dyspraxic less than a year ago (I'm 62) thanks to some lectures I'd listened to by an American psychiatrist who is trying to give it a new name and claim it as his discovery. A woman in the audience asked about the similarity between this and dyspraxia and he responded perfunct...

metabolic disorders
I have read studies on the apparent association between dyspraxia and metabolic disorders stating that the evidence demonstrates that most children with dyspraxia are born with a metabolic disorder and a tendency toward obesity and diabetes Type 2. I was an obese child and have fought obesity all of...

Re: Long-Term Memory
I can relate completely. My family often telephones me with the expectation that I should be able to remember anything that happened in the family no matter how long ago it happened. They call me "elephant brain." We have a family game we sometimes play that involves things that happened m...

Re: Dealing with loss
The friend I told you about said she did nothing but cry for months which she originally saw as a waste of time. She had a dream one night that she was crying and crying and that as her tears fell, they had turned into diamonds. She saw the symbolism of the dream to be that what she thought to be us...

Re: Dealing with loss
Oh, I am so sorry. I have a friend who went through the same thing last year when her grandfather died. Right now your ruminations are intrusive and painful but eventually they will stop being painful ruminations and become something else--memories. All of us eventually become memories. In the Jewis...

does anyone here have sleep issues?
I have heard that dyspraxics commonly have sleep issues but don't know why. Has anyone here been through a prolonged period of insomnia that they were able to overcome? If so, how did you do it?

Re: Making notes in lectures.
what I always did was to just write down salient information in the course of a lecture. If lectures followed a book, I would then follow that up with the details surrounding the issue until it was cemented in my brain. Then the phrase I wrote down during the lecture would bring back the details of ...

Re: Keeping Current With Fresh Posts
I think the site does seem quite old (not as bad as dypraxia foundation. Its an absolute terrible website). I actually found this site through the nhs website! :)i think maybe a revamped website carefully constructed (im sure the dyspraxia foundation could help, join hands (like the childline websit...
