Re: how to follow recipes better

Welcome Tom Sometimes I wish we had a like option, but anyway. Not actually ever thought of this. If I'm following a recipe I not always that good at paying all that much attention to the steps and for a lot of my cooking from scratch I cook stuff I'm familiar with so chilli con carne/pasta bolognes...

Please seek debt advice and support.

Plenty of people fall into this trap as lenders want you to take up their offers so you're paying them. The cost of Living hasn't helped.

Re: Hello

Hi HFS Welcome It definitely takes some adjustment especially if you only learned later. I was also mid 30s when I learned (back in 2011) that I was dyspraxic. I was v used to doing stuff the hard way and not ever wanting (or daring) to ask for help as well as being way too hard on myself. We can de...

Re: Recommendations for private dcd assessment

Hi again Asti I believe PATOSS maintain a list of specialist teachers who can assess for specific learning difficulties (SPLDs). I can understand why your mind might be set on the idea that only a medical doctor can confirm. However, I think that traps too many in a spiral of frustration and disappo...

Re: Recommendations for private dcd assessment

Thanks Tom The physiotherapist is referring me for exercises to help with balance and coordination, which should be really good. Do you think it would be worth going back to my GP for a referral to an OT? Or, should I go privately for an assessment? It's not essential I find out for sure. I'm happy...

Re: Frustrating NHS Rejection and Argumentative GP

Hi Sorry not to be welcoming you in better circumstances. I guess you could make a formal complaint against your GP though it does sound like she softened and appears more on your side after you broke down. You could also write to your NHS Trust's ICB and/or complain to your MP. Regrettably the NHS ...

While I don't drive myself (too visually impaired) I definitely look at YouTube if I need info on how to approach a problem.

Re: my boyfriend has dyspraxia and i don't know how to approach splitting up chores, cause i'm doing so much rn

Hi Every dyspraxic is an individual and there could be numerous reasons. These might include a fear of doing things badly or wrong because with others it has spiralled into conflict further decreasing his self-esteem and willingness to try. For example at home no one gave him opportunity to learn ho...

Re: Recommendations for private dcd assessment

Hi, can I ask whether this was in the UK? My Dr wondered about an OT but decided to refer me to a physiotherapist in the end. My appointment is this Thursday!!! Hi Asti Yes it was a UK member posting. Some OTs can confirm Dyspraxia or provide a report for another Medical professional to rubber stam...

Re: Falling under stress/ anxiety

I can't claim to have dyspraxia, but I do understand how challenging it can be when stress messes with your focus and even your physical coordination. Plenty of people discover and/or have good cause to believe they might but struggle to get professional confirmation as provision is largely not the...
