Re: anyone into walking hiking camping

Steve I've been on a number of holidays where I've camped in the US and Canada. The company that does these trips (Trek America) always includes hikes. I've also some walking where I live here in the Forest of Dean, a walking holiday in France's Ardeche region back in June and some walking along Cot...

Re: Hello

Thanks I have an enquiring mind and I'm good at analysing written stuff. I'm on English side of border in Forest of Dean. My father's originally from Hull so I know a Tyke is someone from Yorkshire. How do you feel about this new found dyspraxic aspect to yourself? I find it doesn't change a lot for...

Re: Diagnosis help and advice needed.

Hi there. Welcome to group. saw this post was unanswered but not really an easy answer to this sorry. Do you get or have you asked for any additional support from your university? I feel that in many ways they should be best placed to help/refer you for assessment to ascertain what help is applicabl...

Re: hey!

welcome to forums I feel it's a bit of a secret disability in that it is not adequately recognised so even disclosing it tends to be a minefield. But please don't let it discourage you. 8-)

Re: what next

Hi Nikki I'd encourage you to ask your University's suuport services what help they can offer. Maybe they'll pursue getting a formal assessment for you. I really don't want to presume whether or not you'd pass an armed forces medical/basic training. Could you perhaps see if your university has a cad...

Re: Dyspraxic struggling to find a relationship.

I'm sure some women (or men) are as tentative on ourselves on these dating sites. I do think there is a bit less judgement passed against people for using online dating. Only problem with the whole dating/relationship thing is the 'unwritten rules' and peoples subjective interpretation/application o...

Re: Are dyspraxics considered vulnerable ?

I think dyspraxics have a strong tendency to be emotionally vulnerable. However it very much depends on the person and equally the threshold at which help/care is made available. I've been lucky enough to have had the drive/confidence to travel widely whereas some days I just want to curl up and die...

Re: Overly empathetic?

On the over empathetic question I know I am. it's a definite disadvantage in this messed up and uncaring world. But then the world really needs more people who care and can think of others for a change! My opinion based on what I've learned is that 'dyspraxicness' (not necesessarily dyspraxia) can r...

Perhaps the bus has some type of radar based reversing aid in addition to the usual beeper. Do some cars set it off too?

Hi Faye As you say you've succeeded in bringing plans of going to college to fruition and have got childcare angle covered too. You can do it but the faith in oneself can be the most nightmarish part. I know the feeling. I also find rushing to get stuff on a list checked off can be stressful as thin...

Re: Any tips to make things stable?

Hi Nat Sorry to hear of the stressful situation you're all in. Has the diagnosis of dyspraxia come as a shock to him? there is on one part the revelation that there's a reason why a dyspraxic person feels so useless and then the realisation that there is a serious lack of recognition and help and th...

Re: Dyspraxic struggling to find a relationship.

Dating is a major stumbling block for me too. Have tried various dating, sites most recently E-Harmony. Not sure what I do wrong, too eager not confident come across badly or women just aren't that attracted to me and if they are, I ruin it by blundering. I'm not really qualified to give tips either...
