Re: have i passed dyspraxia to my son?

Hi Seeker/I? Welcome to the forums (or fora). As people have said above genetics are beyond our control so please don't feel bad. My preconceptions about life in Australia believe me to think if you are dyspraxic and aren't very good or interested in sport you can be considered a nobody? In England ...

Re: dyspraxia & working as a lab tech?

Hi Birds Welcome I don't work in this field but have you spoken about your concerns to the University or otherwise spoken to anyone who has done a similar course or works in this field? Presumably you have done lab work in school/college so will have a feel for working in a lab environment and you'r...

Re: Half-baked idea: strength and clumsiness

Interesting. I can't really judge as haven't read the book. Wonder what Mr Gove's solution would be? I'm sure there are benefits if recognised early and the programme implemented if you can motivate the affected person. I must admit I found my 'special treatment' at school an embarrassment and a sou...

Hi Felix

Good Luck

I'm sorry I can't think of any specific advice other than try to be relaxed and remember you won't be alone in being nervous.

All the best

Re: Learning to not drive

Johan Proof positive we all think in very different ways despite often being 'labelled' the same. I'm glad you've found new impetus to pursue your goal. Good luck with your efforts in continuing your journey and coming to a decision you're content with and that's right for you. I think the responses...

Re: Learning to not drive

Johan I'm sorry if it appears that "determination and perseverance are being demonised"'. That is not the intention. We are all very used to being determined and many of consider our determination to be a key strength. However some of us can be so determined at times that it hurts us and that''s not...

Re: Dyspraxic peoples talents?

Hi Chris You are making a contribution. I have a friend who has only in the last couple of years obtained a similar volunteer role with Marie Curie, having been seriously affected by depression throughout her life. She still struggles badly with self confidence but has made significant progress. It'...

Re: Developmental Questionnaire.

Hi Louisa

It's perfectly understandable. I can feel a sense of misery in some peoples answers. Being highly empathetic is a trait some have. It's in equal measure a blessing and a curse at different times.

Re: Half-baked idea: strength and clumsiness

I'm not aware of any such clinical? studies. It does seem logical to a certain extent but believe there are likely to be other variables such as level of fatigue/frustration. No harm in trying as long as you don't plan to do something crazily dangerous like walking a tightrope across the Grand Canyo...

Re: What chance did I stand? or am I just lazy?

Hi again For those who don't know you but are all too ready to judge; Their opinions aren't based on a proper picture so do try and dismiss them as invalid and not worth being bothered by. I appreciate that is so much easier said than done! Do try though. Society seems far too geared to thinking mon...

This is oh so familiar.

I like things to be well ordered but then I can't find something and suddenly everything is upside down and reorganisation needs to be restarted all over again!

You're most welcome

Please don't feel bad about the emotional downpour. We are all prone to feeling like this at times when things seem like they're all too much!

Hi Shisu New Year can feel very challenging when you're a glass half empty person. To me it seems merely another day with the same ongoing challenges but added pressure to feel happy about them. Feel free to vent your troubles on here if it helps you. The feeling of pointlessness is a real disabler ...

Re: What chance did I stand? or am I just lazy?

Hi and welcome to the forums (or fora) I cannot believe you are lazy. I imagine you are quite hard on yourself too as you no doubt have to work harder to achieve things that other people seem to do with little or no effort and in the case of the worst of such people criticise and belittle you for yo...
