Re: needing to rant!

Hello and welcome Snowy I know that feeling and the maddening answer is you should try to take a break and try to think calmly. Make time for yourself even though the world seems to be spinning ever faster around you! Of course we all know that's the last thing last thing on our minds when we're sea...

Re: Hello

Hi Ellie Welcome I wouldn't describe myself as dyslexic either though it's quite possible it exists at a level too low for it to be very noticeable. If I'm honest there are times when I have confused my letters when reading/writing usually when I'm stressed/in a rush. Educational/medical people like...

Re: dealing with anxiety

Hi Hanna If you can get a few sessions of cognitive behavioural therapy Do give it a try. Though you'll most likely have to go through your GP and there maybe a waiting list. Don't discount talking to your Doctor See if you can see another if she or he isn't very helpful. Also try to stay calm and a...

Re: Hangovers and anxiety

This is something I've thought about a fair bit lately as bit self conscious of my beer belly. There are lots of things to try but hard part is they seem to involve a bit too much self control for my liking. It's not always one of my strong points. I'd suggest trying a combination of the following: ...

I've noticed this too I enjoy a drink with friends but next morning can be on a complete downer.

Guess is the difficult answer is cut out the booze but social life is important too and all too often involves a drink or two 8-)

Re: HELP with 15yr old Son

Trying to put myself back into my mindset of how I felt when I was 15 (22 yrs ago nearly) I'm sure everything is overwhelming for him. Theres a whole multitude of things to try and reconcile including being comfortable or finding a way to be comfortable with your lot especially with the pace of life...

Re: IF there was a cure for Dyspraxia?

Generally agree with you're point living with my 'limitations' has made me who I am and I'm well regarded for what I can do despite my frustrations at what I can't manage so well.

Think I'd want a cure and be taken back in time to try again from say age 14. I know that's being slightly greedy.

Hi Spinellie I know that brain freeze feeling ands its worse when I'm speaking less so when interacting with my computer. Anyway if you'd like to combine thrills with comedy, another author I'd heartily recommend is Bill Fitzhugh. He's an American author so I've generally found you need to resort to...

Re: Grammer and Writing reports for work

Hi there Cap I've never been conscious of the meaning of nouns pronouns adjectives verbs adverbs etc. Not sure I was listening if they ever covered them when I learned English at school in the mid-late eighties/early nineties. Firstly you need to give yourself a pat on the back for the things you ar...

Re: A persons will

Amy First of all sorry to hear about death of your friend. Firstly I'm not an expert so cannot say exactly how the law should or will be applied in your case. I'm assume it works roughly the same as in the UK. Wills appoint an executor to distribute monies/property as stated in will. I'm assuming a ...

Really liked this. Yeah life can be a drag with dyspraxia but we are unique and great people to have as friends.

Re: Little things making me feel stupid at work.

Hi Ellie welcome to the forum or is it the fora? I suspect that there are a quite a few people with our condition who work in the publishing industry as many of us are creative and have a good sense of how things should look. We don't always do well when we put ourselves under pressure to do fiddly ...

Re: Anger, emotional problems with ones you love (friends an

I guess in some ways we're very idealistic and can't easily understand why our friends do stupid things and hurt themselves emotionally often time after time and never seem to learn from it. I think my fear of potentially not being much better myself i.e. having the potential to fall into the same t...

Re: Monday 9th Jan 2012 essay worry

I don't believe it is possible or correct to say that there is one cause alone responsible above all others and the effects are many and varied. In the grand scheme things are we doing enough to try and counteract the effects of global warming and can we, do this quickly enough to 'save the world as...
