Re: Have I let my dyspraxia get the better of me?

Joe I think we all 'learn' behaviours ando it can be hard to 'unlearn' them. You don't want your moods or outbursts to upset or affect/frighten your daughter any more than your partner does. I find I too can sound overly aggressive when I'm stressed and I'm feeling that I've lost control of a situat...

Re: Have I let my dyspraxia get the better of me?

In short yeah maybe, but Dyspraxia is a wily beast and you have to learn to live alongside with, rather than against it. If you're flying into a rage /overreacting everytime something goes missing, is that frightening for your partner and your daughter? Is it causing your partner to see warning sign...

Re: Daily living

Is moving back home something he'd want to do?

What has motivated him in the past and could this be rekindled?

Re: Flying for the first time

IIRC you still have to complete Green Landing card but not been to US for over 6yrs. Have details of where you're staying for CBP I always make an itinerary fo...

Re: Has it all gone quiet?

I've written a short article about the Forum to go into the online Dyspraxia and Life Magazine hoping to get a few more members off the back of this. www.dyspraxialifemagazine.co.uk Difficulty is we can't very well expect people to do X posts a week or be dropped as that would just be counter produc...

Re: Rather odd issue with intimacy

Yes, Whilst biologically it should come naturally there's a a lot of emotion, verbal and non verbal communication and if people are sensitive to textures that might also need to be overcome. I wish I could understand and get my head around the whole business of attraction, dating and relationships a...

Re: Hello

Hi James Welcome to our little outpost of the web. It's a difficult condition to describe especially when same condition has a tendency to cause brain fog and affects us in a wide variety of ways and to different degrees. To be honest it was/is often myself who hates me most but like yourself, to an...

Re: Daily living

Sorry to read of your son's predicament. From my own experienxe, CBT itself requires a degree of motivation but it can help you to challenge any inner feelings of worthlessness. I do agree he needs help in order to feel empowered and motivated and to want to do things for himself. Since he is an adu...

Re: Hi

Welcome Finding Dyspraxia specific help as an adult is regrettably all too often not an easy or a simple matter. There are plenty of online support groups both here and on Facebook too (if that's your thing). Awareness is improving but proably never as quickly as we might wish. What areas of your li...
