Re: cannot think

In addition to ego strength, (and catalyzed by it) there can come tremendous anxiety as a result of feeling super focused, pushing yourself too hard, being taunted and just having a ****ing hard time coping. It's worth considering that the problems with cognitive focus you're having could be seconda...

Re: Getting credited for what you know

I can also related with this. Growing up I was constantly encouraged by my mother to aim low despite my high intelligence. My grade 10 English teacher saw that I had a creative intelligence for English and demanded I take university courses. It was the one sliver of academic support in a decade whic...

Re: Hey

Welcome to the forum friend. I also was made fun of growing up for my dyspraxia (it could have been worse.) I also enjoy creative pursuits to cope with dyspraxia. Unfortunately I've been pretty depressed and that's been soaking up a lot of my will power and creativity.

Re: Dyspraxia flare-ups?

Yes stress, exhaustion and stimuli can do it. But this kind of flare-up is especially obvious in the morning. I notice it "all things being equal." If I'm tired I'm angry. If I'm stressed I'm reactive. If I'm depressed I'm mopey. If I'm sensory overwhelmed well, I get more dyspraxic for sure.

Dyspraxia flare-ups?

Does anyone else experience their dyspraxia with flare-ups? I never don't have dyspraxia. But some days I can tell upon waking are clearer and easier than others. On others I can tell subjectively something is wrong... Then I'm bumping into and dropping things all day, gapping out and incapable of h...

Re: Dyspraxic authors

It took a lot of time. During the bridge period between my "I can't get it together to write anything" phase and my "wow I just finished my book" phase it was like 4 years. You can take a look at my book and much of my unfinished work here: https://independent.academia.edu/SpencerFerri1 My blbook is...

Re: Slight Work Phobia

An author I liked pursued a degree in computer programming in the 90s. He talks about it 20 years later as being about as useful to the field as an aerospace degree from the 70s is to the current field. I always liked computers but I'm glad I didn't pursue a career in programming. I've performed som...

Re: Not Another New Dysplexic Member

You know how often I've apologised for the slow response? Sounds like a symptom of dyspraxia. I appreciate the welcoming and I'm happy to be around people who have some common grounds with my experience.

Re: Cannabis and Dyspraxia

You'd be surprised how many positions on cannabis are misinformed by an era of negative propaganda. The positive propaganda doesn't help... No cannabis probably doesn't cure cancer, probably doesn't cure anything. But as a psychotropic drugs it is hardly as harmful as some drugs can be. The Canadian...

How do you balance what you need from your social relationships?

As a result of my dyspraxia, I've always marginalized myself for the sake of other people. But owing to the sense of alienation that produces I've also rebelled and sometimes tried to pursue lifestyles that are quintessentially me. But one thing I've never done is tried to settle on what it is I nee...

Slight Work Phobia

Phobia is a strong word, this isn't technically a phobia, but I am having a tension right now because of work. I've always been able to get a job. I've got a natural charisma and I had a philosophical work ethic based upon certain studies that landed me numerous jobs. But while I've always been lika...

Not Another New Dysplexic Member

Hello there all, Long rant as hey, I've had almost no dyspraxic peers with which I could share this, I wanted to find a community of dyspraxic folk like myself. I was diagnosed with "sensory integration disorder" when I was younger. I didn't really understand the disorder at all, assuming it was onl...

Re: Dyspraxic authors

I can throw in here that I am a self-published author. It took a few years to write the book. I also have four unfinished manuscripts, with the closest to completion being 80% complete. So, here's the trick... When I was younger I had lots of ideas for fiction stories. I ended up writing 100-150 poe...

Re: Cannabis and Dyspraxia

In my country Canada, cannabis is now legal. So I can freely and legally admit to smoking cannabis as a self-medication for many years. ADD of some kinds can possibly be linked to the dopamine system in the brain (given its relationship with other related neruotransmitter) and so the dopamine increa...
