Re: GP

Well, there is an occupational therapy unit at Bedford Hospital, so I'm assuming it will be there, but the GP didn't give any details, no. Folic acid, yes. I think these are common deficiencies, and I've taken supplements in the past just because I felt like trying them, but I felt no different at a...

Re: Lost in Dyspraxia

I hope one day I can have complete independence, at the moment I think because I have been between jobs I have gotten away with excuses like "not being able to afford a car" therefore not driving anywhere and so avoiding my 'dysgeographia' from being so obvious. Any tips on how to improve...

Re: Lost in Dyspraxia

Hello! So I have just recently really accepted that I have dyspraxia, I haven't been diagnosed but I have known for many years that something wasn't right. I heard about Dyspraxia a few years ago and everything started to make sense. I was working full time and was always quite hard on myself when ...

Re: GP

My GP called me today to say that blood tests I had a week or so ago show deficiencies in fomate, vitamin D, and calcium. He says these deficiencies will be contributing to my problems, but he added that he appreciates that they won't be telling us the whole story. He wants me to use supplements, th...

It sounds horrible. Can't you pretend to be ill?

Re: What do you think about getting charged for assessments?

I hope so. I'm nervous!

Any ideas how long it will take? I told him that the practical elements of my course at work start in May, so I was hoping for s diagnosis before then. He didn't give anything away, but I feel that, NHS-wise, that's probably tight!

Re: What do you think about getting charged for assessments?

The GP referred me to occupational health, so I hope I've done the right thing.

I've posted to say that my GP has referred me! Wahey! Tom, would you please move that post to this forum, as I think I posted elsewhere by accident.

GP

I'm in shock. I went to the GP today to ask for a referral for a dyspraxia assessment. I was ready for a fight, but he simply said, "Yes, I can do that for you. Tell me more." Then he proceeded to type lots of difficulties I explained to him. Then I had to ask him how to get back to recept...

Re: Welcome!

She's at my workplace, the LAS. She got back to me and said the service won't pay.

I've booked a GP appointment for the 12th of this month and I will ask for a referral. If I'm unsuccessful, I have earmarked a lady to assess me. It will cost me £800.

Re: Family don't understand me

I think it's amazing that you are a teacher! I think that would be one of my chosen professions if I felt that I could cope. My family don't understand my difficulties either, so I understand. I try not to explain to them anymore because I know I will end up upset. When do the difficulties arise? Do...

What a depressing thread! Why don't you look into cleaning people's houses instead of industrial cleaning? Your employer sounds terrible.

Re: metabolic disorders

That's interesting. I'm the opposite - my blood sugar drops to below normal if I don't keep eating!

Is there definitely a correlation, or could this be two separate problems?

Re: What do you think about getting charged for assessments?

Okay. I found an occupational therapist who charges £300 for a dyspraxia assessment, but her blurb talks only about the physical side, which concerns me. I have emailed my concerns and said that I'm more affected by the cognitive problems, so I will see what she says. She charges £150 for a separate...
