Re: Keeping Current With Fresh Posts

I think the site does seem quite old (not as bad as dypraxia foundation. Its an absolute terrible website). I actually found this site through the nhs website! :)i think maybe a revamped website carefully constructed (im sure the dyspraxia foundation could help, join hands (like the childline websit...

Re: Non-verbal intelligence

In the US, learning disability means there is a 'marked discrepancy' i.e. the person's intelligence in normal or above average, but their is one subject category such as arithmetic where there is a cognitive deficit

Re: Hearing everything all at once?

I have a great deal of difficulty organizing and processing multiple stimuli; therefore, I hear the words and the noise but I cannot process or make sense of it. Historically, I just get bits and pieces and pretend to have understood the rest because asking to have it repeated is to no avail.

Re: Being compared to being on drugs

back in the 90's I was allergic to the preservative ( a mercury derivative) they used to put in contact lens solution. My eyes were always bloodshot, and people I worked with used to insinuate that I was a pot smoker. The truth is I don't smoke or drink. I have enough problems. I don't need any subs...

Re: Seeing things and wanting them straight away?

I've always been impulsive. I buy things and then return them when I think better of it. An old friend used to always say, "stores should just issue you a rental card."

Re: Muscle issue

I couldn't advise anyone else about this; I could only give account of my own personal experience. I had always been sedentary, and had always had poor posture and coordination; still do. However, when I was in my twenties, a gym opened up around the corner from me. Long story short, I eventually le...

Re: I get more upset about having hypocondraplasia more than others?

I honestly don't know if it has anything to do with dyspraxia or not. I just find it incomprehensible that in this day and age people can be so cruel and insensitive. Though I do remember many years ago walking down the street and seeing a kid taunting a man with a similar situation. Fortunately ano...

Re: Memorial Day and Dyspraxia in the US

I never liked math or chemistry either. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think perseverance is a valuable skill; truly it is. However, I do think it is an art to know when to encourage children to focus more on where their talents lie. When I was in school there weren't many options; conver...

Re: Tidying up and messing everything up?

I can relate to everything you say, and of course doctors have all kinds of medical diagnoses for why I am fatigued, all of which require expensive medications, like testosterone gel and iron pills which while not expensive but have all kinds of nasty side effects. The thing is I was always like thi...

Re: Memorial Day and Dyspraxia in the US

There was very much a 'try harder' view on everything. I guess it's the attitude they felt helped them win the war, LOL. I think a better perspective might have been and should always be, ' what price dignity?' i.e. is it really worth it to lose all sense of dignity to learn geometry instead of focu...
