Re: Felt such a prat

Not sure what 'prat' means, but it's obviously not a good thing. I also have terrible balance and have embarrassed myself frequently because of it

Re: Lost in Dyspraxia

Well, I can totally relate to your post. Last year I took a part time job which went south real fast. I had tremendous difficulty navigating the computer system and it took me way longer than it should have to attempt to complete the documentation on the computer system. I'm 63 and when I first ente...

Best of Luck to you . I know how difficult that can be. Daunting, and anxiety provoking.

I've often wondered that myself. Wish I could be of more help in answering the question

Re: explaining dyspraxia to family or not?

Presumably I live on the same planet as you do. It is indeed extremely unlikely to begin a medical career in your 60/70s. But my point stands, it’s not unheard of people to occupy themselves with new studies after their retirement. Sometimes, not often perhaps some get to utilise those new gain ski...

Re: explaining dyspraxia to family or not?

I'm already aware of this. No new career should be embarked upon in your mid 60's. That's my point. How do you explain dyspraxia to a family who doesn't understand something that simple, that basic????? Yet some people do and succeed. Your point may be correct for you... it may not be for everyone....

it's been years but the only thing I can tell you is repetition, practice the same thing over and over

Re: explaining dyspraxia to family or not?

yeah, but I don't. I consider it to be ridiculous. Who embarks upon a new career at age 63? so, if they don't get something as simple as this, how could they get something far more complex?

explaining dyspraxia to family or not?

I've never discussed my dyspraxia with my family because I don't believe they have the ability to grasp it, or would they believe it is something real. I'll be 63 in the coming year and disabled due to diabetes for the past two years. Two weeks ago while I was visiting, I gave my sister some helpful...

Re: Has it all gone quiet?

I don't have any ideas; I did try to suggest it in the past but it came across badly, so I won't be going there again. That being said, I hope other people will come up with some effective ideas. Thanks for the article Tom, I didn't even know about the magazine. I'm enjoying it.

Excellent question Andrew. I've been trying to ask the same thing--but it always comes out wrong. I wish I had a clue. Please let me know if you come up with something

Re: Could dyspraxia be caused by stress?

No. General cognitive ability is impaired by stress, some of the symptoms of which could mimic any condition, but no dyspraxia is not caused by stress
