Re: Dealing with loss

The friend I told you about said she did nothing but cry for months which she originally saw as a waste of time. She had a dream one night that she was crying and crying and that as her tears fell, they had turned into diamonds. She saw the symbolism of the dream to be that what she thought to be us...

Re: Are There Any Other Americans On this Site?

I don't know if Trump will be re-elected or not. There seems to be a wave of fascism sweeping many countries these days, and the US is one of them. It's really very sad because the US I grew up in was firmly democratic, anti fascist, and rabidly anti-communist. No one who allowed Russia to interfere...

Re: Dealing with loss

Oh, I am so sorry. I have a friend who went through the same thing last year when her grandfather died. Right now your ruminations are intrusive and painful but eventually they will stop being painful ruminations and become something else--memories. All of us eventually become memories. In the Jewis...

does anyone here have sleep issues?

I have heard that dyspraxics commonly have sleep issues but don't know why. Has anyone here been through a prolonged period of insomnia that they were able to overcome? If so, how did you do it?

Re: Making notes in lectures.

what I always did was to just write down salient information in the course of a lecture. If lectures followed a book, I would then follow that up with the details surrounding the issue until it was cemented in my brain. Then the phrase I wrote down during the lecture would bring back the details of ...

Re: Keeping Current With Fresh Posts

I think the site does seem quite old (not as bad as dypraxia foundation. Its an absolute terrible website). I actually found this site through the nhs website! :)i think maybe a revamped website carefully constructed (im sure the dyspraxia foundation could help, join hands (like the childline websit...

Re: Non-verbal intelligence

In the US, learning disability means there is a 'marked discrepancy' i.e. the person's intelligence in normal or above average, but their is one subject category such as arithmetic where there is a cognitive deficit

Re: Hearing everything all at once?

I have a great deal of difficulty organizing and processing multiple stimuli; therefore, I hear the words and the noise but I cannot process or make sense of it. Historically, I just get bits and pieces and pretend to have understood the rest because asking to have it repeated is to no avail.

Re: Being compared to being on drugs

back in the 90's I was allergic to the preservative ( a mercury derivative) they used to put in contact lens solution. My eyes were always bloodshot, and people I worked with used to insinuate that I was a pot smoker. The truth is I don't smoke or drink. I have enough problems. I don't need any subs...

Re: Seeing things and wanting them straight away?

I've always been impulsive. I buy things and then return them when I think better of it. An old friend used to always say, "stores should just issue you a rental card."

Re: Muscle issue

I couldn't advise anyone else about this; I could only give account of my own personal experience. I had always been sedentary, and had always had poor posture and coordination; still do. However, when I was in my twenties, a gym opened up around the corner from me. Long story short, I eventually le...
