Re: Lost in Dyspraxia
Poppy, I am so proud of you. Every success "one" of us has feels like a personal success. As I said at 63 I could write a book on dos and dont's. We are extremely fortunate to be able to honestly express ourselves here. It sounds like you have found your niche at your present job, although...

Re: Can’t be diagnosed?
At your age your mother would be responsible to request an evaluation for you. The process begins with her submitting a letter to your guidance counselor (usually). Your evaluation is NOT a favor from the school, this is a federal (government) law as well as any state laws that may apply. There are ...

Re: Lost in Dyspraxia
Hi Poppy, Without sounding dismissive and condescending, I can relate to so much of what you wrote, including being concerned about writing too much. At 63 y/o and learning about "this" has truthfully devastated me. I am actually going through the stages of grief I believe. I too have lear...

Re: comorbidity
Mona, I am new to this site even the term dyspraxia. My father, myself, my son and now I believe my granddaughter all have dyspraxia. I detest labels as well. The labels of dunce, incorrigible, etc. caused his mother to remove him from school after failing to pass the 4th grade 2 times. Well this st...

Re: Is it worth trying? (Color Guard / Dancing)
Hi, I was wondering how it went? BTW, after my first year of nursing school an instructor invited me to her home (strange). She expressed her "concern" about my ability to really comprehend nursing. Fast forward 40 + yrs....I have been beyond successful,I have worked in two world reknown i...

Re: Is it worth trying? (Color Guard / Dancing)
Dear Mayonaka, Being clueless about my diagnosis of dyspraxia until the age of 63 has had some negative consequences as well as some very positive ones. When it came to an activity like color guard/dancing (mine was competitive baton twirling) my mother insisted upon lessons and practice, practice, ...

Re: Any parents who're dyspraxic also have a dyspraxic child?
I am new to the word dyspraxia, let along a diagnosis of such. I am in the healthcare field. I wanted to further my education and decided to do so online via the Univ. of Derby. While I did quite well in my studies in the U.S. I had an alarmingly difficult time with the modules I chose. In the U.S. ...
