Hi, I was diagnosed as dyspraxic in my late thirties so I'm new to all this. I went to see a professional because my coordination at the gym was getting me down. I couldn't follow the class. The diagnosis explained a lot... However, does anyone else have the following problems? I can not do admin! I...

Re: Music

Thank you. I just find it bizarre but I seem to be dyspraxic in few areas in fact...although I excel in those dyspraxic domains(!) Driving is terrifying for the question of attention. I once stopped at traffic lights stuck as I couldn't remember whether green meant stop or go...I don't have THAT man...

I know I've been through this and I'm looping but today I was certified as dyspraxic and yet I was a semi-professional 'cellist (of all things)! I believe the assessment but how can I have played the piano and 'cello at music college and never had a problem with that? The only things that was repeat...

Re: comorbidity

I don't think I knew that. I speak fluent French and live in France. It's for that. Sometimes I even forget which words are French and which are English especially ones which are similar. Those are the worst!!

Re: Annoyed by dyspraxia

I just read a very positive post on Dyspraxia so I'm feeling a bit better. I've had so many labels in life...OCD, Cyclothymia, and Dyspraxia so I just suddenly felt overwhelmed. Normal I guess. I have such a good long term memory that I scare people and it's embarrassing. You relieve me on that one ...

Re: Accepting being Dyspraxic

I'm 38. My diagnosis was on Monday. Not sure why but I doubt it though I can see about 15 points why I shouldn't.
Not adjusting well to it. I feel stupid suddenly. Ironic!

Re: Chris Packhan docunentary Aspergers and me

I watched it with my nine year old son who has ASD and my seven year old. They loved it. They have grown up quickly in some respects so they followed it and my son understood his attachment to the kestrel totally and really liked hearing about t he USA treatments. He asked me if I could would I cure...

Re: Feeling dumb

It is with me! I've always felt intelligent (and I know I am as I did well at school) and appeared (in my eyes) to be stupid.

Re: Annoyed by dyspraxia

Thank you. It does. I accept WHOLLY my son's Aspergers. Always have. Never wanted to change a thing. It's a gift. But this just feels like the final nail in the coffin as I've had diagnosis all my life and this one was MY idea!!!
Tell me some strengths please....

Annoyed by dyspraxia

Is it normal when you have a diagnosis to over analyze yourself and feel REALLY annoyed you ever had the idea to get tested? That's how I feel. Annoyed. I notice more than ever how CRAP my short term memory is and how when I hold cereal bowls I hook my little fingers underneath. It's genius really ;...

Re: comorbidity

Thank you.
I came on this forum as I was sure that I'd written something but couldn't remember what and if I indeed had.
AWFUL short term memory, incredible long term.
Did you mean to write comedienne the French way?! Or is it like that in English too?

comorbidity

I'm a bit confused. I had OCD as a child. It ruined my life. I then got diagnosed as having cyclothymia and was told that OCD was a coping mechanism for that. I went to see an OT as I felt odd not being able to do things in the gym that everyone else could and got told I was dsypraxic. Why can one p...

Re: I am a musician!!!

That's interesting thank you because I imagined there would not be such a collection of careers with dyspraxia. I'm feeling more positive and normal again. Oh and I have always been VERY determined. It's got me further than skill.

I am a musician!!!

Why if I have dyspraxia (and a specialist just suggested I do) do I have good fine motor skills and was I for a long time a professional musician? (Cello). All I find is the following: I can NOT have noise around me when I am conversing and can't cope with interruptions. I can not read if there is a...
