Re: Defining oneself as dyspraxic - or not?

At the moment I have chosen not to openly divine myself as Dyspraxic. For me, just understanding the condition is really important to help me find workable solutions to the problems it causes. But I can see how being open about it could really help take the pressure off, I suppose it would rely on t...

Re: Other dyspraxic people seem to have a lot of friends

Friends are an interesting one. (Quite literally lol)
I've always found a much closer connection to people who are a little bit different or maybe slightly flawed. Whether that's long term friends or someone I just get chatting too.
This is only something I've recently become aware of.

Re: Sleepless night

I have had problem with waking up in the middle of the night, then having the struggle of falling asleep again. I have found that just having one pillow has really helped. I think it has something to do with airways. Might be worth a try to anyone else who's struggling?

Re: Driving & Lack of Concentration - Does this happen to you?

Hi Nige1969 I can completely relate to this. I can't navigate and hold a decent conversation at the same time. If I'm navigating well then I'm not taking on board the conversation of the passenger. If I'm totally engained in the conversation then I will almost certainly need to turn around at some p...

Re: Eyesight and Dyspraxia

As stated above, I also have a Lazy Eye (Amblyopia) in my left eye. I had to wear the eye patch over my good eye until I was 9 years old. I'm currently trying out a Tetris game on the iPad with the red and blue 3D glasses. It basically forces the eyes to work together. It's early days yet, but if I ...

Left behind by technology

Hi. Apologies if this subject has already been covered. One of my real problem area's in life since becoming an adult is technology. I'm 35 and have seen a massive shift in technology since leaving school in 1998. I used to be brilliant with the analog stuff. But now with smart phones and computers ...

Re: How to learn to ride a bicycle with dyspraxia?

This won't be very helpful but I taught myself how to ride a bicycle when I about four years old. I managed it completely on my own. I rode round in small circles until I developed the balance and coordination, it becoming second nature. At one point I could even ride without holding the handle bar...

Re: Theory test tips?

I've always had problems with exams, but the theory test is one I managed to flourish in. I took the test in 1999 when you needed to get 30 out of 35 questions right to pass, and managed to score 35. What I did was buy one of those books that has all the theory test questions in. The size of it does...

Re: Finding a hobby(for dyspraxics!!!)

Although a very bizarre hobby for Dyspraxics, mines cricket. As mentioned above, team sports can be difficult. Particularly when your team mates are relying on you to take a catch or stop a ball. I joined a team that were desperately short of players, and were just happy to have enough to get people...

Re: Repetition in your head

Zoning out when being given instructions is something I'm very familiar with. With me, I will think of a question I think that needs asking halfway though the instruction. But because I worry about forgetting that question, I focus on it so much that I can't take in the information being given to me...

Re: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

I would say introverted, but I try very hard to be extroverted. This can be very exhausting though, particularly if I'm having a dyspeptic day(s). A road I have to be very cautious about is Alcohol, because a couple of pints can almost make the Dyspraxia disappear for the evening, even on a bad day....
