Re: dyspraxia ruining career

That sounds horrible - sorry you had that experience. It doesn't sound like you had a lot of support or encouragement. Speaking for myself, it can sometimes take me longer than other people to 'get' things, but once I've got it, and sometimes with a bit of practice, I can do it. Do you think you'd m...

Re: Dyspraxia and religion

Is this thread resurrected? I'd love to be religious. I've spent a lot of time looking for a sense of purpose and meaning, and I've 'tried out' most of the major religions and a few slightly more obscure ones to find it. There's always some bit of dogma that turns me off, and I haven't found a relig...

Re: dyspraxia ruining career

Hi Invisible,

What was it about the CPR that was causing the difficulties?

Re: Something eye catching and original

Had my report back a couple of days ago! It's quite long and comprehensive, but the summary reads: On the basis of evidence from this assessment, (welshwizard) presents as a student with specific learning difficulties of a dyspraxic nature including relative weaknesses in working memory and processi...

Re: Not all Doom and Gloom?

I guess I've just been incredibly lucky on this front - I met my now wife when we were both in school many years ago, and we've been together since. That puts me in the odd position of not really knowing a lot about dating, but maybe having a few thoughts on what I think is a good relationship in my...

Re: Bad backs and feet in the work place.

(Disclaimer to start - I know very little about what is or isn't common in Dyspraxia apart from the core symptoms) But... I have had general vague problems with feet, lower back, and posture. Have you ever been assessed for orthotic insoles? I used to get a lot of lower back pain after jogging until...

Re: No compassion

This sounds bad but I do not have much compassion for other people that have some sort of mental or physical disability that was there own fault for example like them calming to have anxiety or other stuff when it's there fault for abusing drugs or people that have had car crashes when it was there...

Haha, learning to appreciate myself is definitely something I need to work on. I agree though, it's easy for people to underestimate what they're capable of.

Re: Something eye catching and original

I think that notion is generally held about DCD as well, but the evidence suggests that it's not always (or even usually) the case. At any rate, I'm no expert on either condition - it's just that I feel like the issues I have seem to fit the picture. I definitely can be lazy, but I feel that someti...

Hiiiii!

I'm a newbie here myself :)

What did you do to get the hang of university? I managed through my first degree by a combination of blagging, luck, and doing everything last minute. I could do with some pointers on better ways to do things!

Re: Something eye catching and original

Hi Otis, I'm not taking fluoxetine anymore - but it was very helpful at the time. I took it for about 6 months. Although I surely have depressive tendencies and risk factors - low self esteem, negative thoughts, a hesistancy to share feelings etc., I'm not depressed at the moment, and I can manage m...

I'd heard that ADHD is present in around 50% Again I think there is a notion that it's sometlhing people grow out of. Re: Hey

Are you interested in research? If you enjoy lab work but are worried about time-pressured jobs like pathology etc, could something like research fit you? Still lab based but also possibly less deadline-y (but needing a lot of personal organisation, although you could maybe tackle that by putting ex...

Something eye catching and original

Hi all, So I had an Ed Psych assessment this week, and although the report won't be back for a while, she seemed pretty convinced I'm dyspraxic. I'd had my suspicions, but didn't (and don't) know a huge amount about the condition other than the clumsiness thing (which is me all over). My Ed Psych wa...
