Re: Driving
I drive but I only have an automatic driving license. Really recommend trying automatic driving lessons for anyone out there struggling! Finding the right instructor is really important too. If you don’t click with someone and are finding the lessons really stressful then change instructor. My forth...

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hi Nicky, I can identify with lots of what you say again. I too tend to forget things like doing the bins and I also have to stop to look for my keys in my handbag. Far too hard to do that on the move! Those things can be frustrating you're right. I will try to be less hard on myself about the thing...

Re: Phobias/Fears
I don't know if I should admit to this phobia, as it's so weird and really personal, but I feel for you with your fear of trees and you should know you're not the only one with a powerful, unusual fear you just can't shake. So here goes, I am genuinely scared of some toilets! It's the old fashioned ...

Re: Hate being so clumsy!
Hello,
Thanks for the replies. Chatting about things on here really does help to put them in perspective. I will try and be calmer and less down on myself, which I think is the general gist of your messages and good advice.

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hello again Jim, Thanks for the chart. Really interesting and helpful. I will try not to be too intimidated by cooking but it is something I have a real mental block about. My early experiences of cooking were in school cookery lessons which were massively stressful! I went to such a strict, old fas...

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hi Nicky and Jim! Thanks both of you for your messages. You sound very similar to me Nicky! I've always been slow to get things done at work and home. I've also wondered if I might have some elements of aspergers sometimes too. I'm a primary school teacher (when I'm not at home being a mum) so I als...

P.s. Good luck with the dog and well done on mastering the extendable lead!! I'd love to have a dog but perhaps not just yet with the baby!

Re: Division of labour after a baby
Hi Nicky, Thank you for your reply. It's lovely just to know I'm not the only one who finds it a struggle getting everything done sometimes. It's also nice to know you think the groups are a good idea. I think we get a lot out of them although it's true that I may be over grouping! The funny thing i...

Hate being so clumsy!
Feeling really down about how much I break and spill things tonight. I spill a drink most days and break something most weeks. I also hurt myself all the time. My legs are covered in bruises from where I've walked into things but that doesn't bother me so much because no one else gets mad at me for ...

Re: Need to get "official" diagnosis
Hi Sansababy, I wanted to say hello as I am a mum with a baby girl too and I too suspect I have dyspraxia but I have not had an assessment. So it's nice to see someone on here who might understand the challenges of motherhood with dyspraxia (or suspected dyspraxia). I can relate to a lot of what you...

Division of labour after a baby
Hello, I thought I'd start this thread as I'm interested in finding out how other dyspraxic mums (particularly stay home mums) have coped with getting the housework done after having a baby. My little girl is now 8 months old (she's my first) so she's not that new anymore, and I know I should really...

Re: Tidiness / organisation tips
Hello, Sorry for the slow reply. I'm quite new to the site and just saw your post. I'm a teacher too (although I'm off work at the moment on maternity leave). I think teaching is such a hard job for us dyspraxics! It involves so much multi-tasking and we are handed piles of paperwork every day. My c...

Crochet! That's a different one! Well done you
I think dyspraxia does make us more determined, for sure. My husband reckons I have a "head against a brick wall" personality. Meaning I'm always attempting things I find really difficult. I think he means it as a compliment!

Re: Hello everyone.
Hello again! Well done on getting your assessment done, at least you know now and can begin to move on from there. I think I understand how you feel reading it. I haven't been assessed since I was a child, when I was actually diagnosed as dyslexic, not dyspraxic, but I think dyspraxia is more like i...

Re: Hello
Hi Scotty, I don't know much about getting a diagnosis. I haven't got one myself as much as I would like one. I have a baby girl and I just have other financial priorities. But I just wanted to say I'm sorry you have to put up with such horrible treatment at work, even if it is just a few people. I'...
