Re: Just got dumped by first love and found out I have dyspraxia. Will I ever find love again?

I feel like I'm a little late replying but... I was in the same position as you last summer- I broke up with a guy I had been mad about for years, and I went into a slump for months on end and I was convinced I wouldn't find anyone else. It takes a while to recover, it took me about six months, but ...

Re: How do you stand?

[quote="Nyx"]I have noticed that I do stand awkwardly. I always put all my weight on my left leg, and my feet always face outwards. I feel very comfortable when I stand like this but now feel like I am unlevelled when i stand straight and less balance.[/quote My feet face outwards all the ...

Re: People find me annoying

I can totally relate, I'm 18 and in sixth form too, and it's a huge struggle for me. Nobody ever wants me in their group when we have to do group work, and my teachers always end up placing me with people. I was part of a large group last year, but I soon realised how toxic big clique-like groups ca...

Re: What Was Your Teen Social Life Like?

How many friends did you have? How often would you hang out with them? What would you guys do? etc I've always tried to make lots of friends but it's never really worked out, I always found myself being left out and pushed away from everyone I tried to establish friendships with. I'm still best fri...

What can I get from a needs assessment?

I'm having my needs assessment on Friday, and I'm still not completely sure what I'm entitled to. I know i can get a laptop, specialist stationery, and a dictophone. I'm also going to see if i can get a smartphone as i dont have one, and it would be useful for setting reminders, alarms, notes, etc, ...

Re: How much do you think about, or focus on relationships?

I do tend to think about friendships and relationships a lot, and I find myself getting attached to people very quickly and easily, however, I'm not very good with actually holding down any kind of relationship. I only really have about 5 friends, and I've had 2 relationships in my life, neither of ...

Not very dyspraxic talents

I've been practicing drawing manga for 10 years now, so I'm quite good at it, and people are always quite surprised that I can draw so well with my dyspraxia, especially when they've seen my handwriting!
Does anyone else have any talents that they're surprised they can do?

Re: Grants for Dyspraxic students?

I paid for my assessment myself, after being told by my university that I couldn't recieve funding from them, and then came home from the assessment to see an email from the uni saying they could fund students having assessments after May! ](*,) Thankfully, I've spoken to the uni, and they're...

Re: Do you run funny?

I run and walk funny- people always tell me I walk like a duck or a penguin, because I always have my feet turned out. I can't keep them straight because it makes me feel unbalanced. As for running, even my PE teacher used to make fun of the way I run- I swing my arms weirdly in front of me, and I d...

Re: My coping strategies - what are yours?

I really struggle with depth perception and spatial awareness, and I haven't been able to find anything on this site so far suggesting coping methods. I'm always walking into people or furniture, because I always think they're further away than they are. I've walked into our new kitchen table nearly...
