Re: Are there any other PhD students with Dyspraxia? I'm looking to start an informal mutual support meet up
Hey everyone. I'm mark. this is my first visit to this site. I'm so glad it's here! Quick intro: I had the usual trajectory as a kid, couldn't learn to read until 11, was luckily sent to a special school--this was in the 1970's so they hand' figured out that dyspraxia was different to dyslexia back ...

Re: DLA
From what I've read, you can only get DLA is it profoundly affects your day to day activities/ work, such as being blind, deaf, unable to walk, unable to get dressed or go to to toilet independently, limbless, et cetera. I could be wrong however, but when I looked into it about 6 months ago, that ...

Re: Help getting diagnosis
Hi again. Getting formal diagnosis as an adult when you're no longer in full time education does seem to be tricky In the first instance ask your GP (NHS provision is patchy and GPs may not have/know anyone they can refer you to. Go prepared with information about dyspraxia and how it affects your ...

Re: Total exhaustion after work
I got a doctors note reducing my hours to four 4 hour work shifts a week and regular break, but it was effectively useless as by the time I got it, my anxiety ha built up so much due to the way my employer treated me and the long, unexpected hours, that I had to resign after being there for about a ...

Re: No social life/Loner
Join a club/ group and volunteer. You can meet some awesome people and it can open lots of doors to you. I joined the scouts as a adult (Scout Network), and have new friends who I see every now and then. What's great is that they can't really refuse your participation, especially for group ...

Total exhaustion after work
I recently started working at a retail store I wont name, and despite having an 8 hour contract, I've been given 40 hours to work this week. I used to get this in my last job, but not as bad. When I finish work, I feel absolutely exhausted and have to go straight to bed to rest when I get home. It ...

Re: IRC
Hi and welcome. I'm afraid the short answer is no there isn't. It's entirely possible that members here have access to and use various instant messaging apps Maybe once we know more about you they might feel prepared to share their nicknames via private message. Enforced Board Policy does not ...

Re: How to learn to ride a bicycle with dyspraxia?
I learned to ride when I was 7/8. I'm not hugely sure how I learned. All I remember is the many times I fell off due to my dad just pushing me off expecting me to balance myself out, and all the crying due to him getting angry. I know I used to practice almost everyday since I was around 2/3 ...

Re: I hate public transport
I cycle everywhere, but even with that, motorists are scary as hell, especially taxi drivers!
If I got a tenner for each taxi driver that cut me up, I would only have to work a few days a year.

Help getting diagnosis
I did some assessments around February time this year for my retaking of GCSE Maths, and the assessor said that by the impression of the answers to which I gave in the questionnaire I was given as homework, as well as some of the activities which we had to do, she thought I might have dyspraxia. She ...
