Re: Finding a job

My mom has told me from a young age that I've been a burden and she wished I wasn't born because I trapped her here in South Africa................. I got offered a job like yesterday travelling and creating curriculums for schools world wide and it seems like an amazing opportunity so I'm thinking...

Re: ASD and dyspraxia- how much are they related?

This is a question I posed on Quora to see what responses there were. https://www.quora.com/Can-dyspraxia-make-it-difficult-for-you-to-organise-your-thoughts To quote the second person that replied : No. There’s been a lot of BS floating around the Internet to the effect that dyspraxia is a learnin...

Re: At what age did you learn to swim , or can't you swim?

Strangely enough, I was the only person in my class at primary school who could swim when I was 7. This is the only time that I've been above average at sport in my life. :-) I should say that this situation was not down to me having a special talent. It was simply that my father, being a sailor, ha...

Re: Dyspraxia Foundation is upping it's game re. all adult dyspraxics. Yeah!!!

I'm happy to say that I've just a really positive telephone conversation with Sophie Kayani (Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Dyspraxia Foundation) & actually the Dyspraxia Foundation has being putting plans in place to be a lot more representative to all adult dyspraxics & to lobby fo...
The other one I hate is "for such an intelligent girl, you're really stupid".
I've experienced that one, too. Well not the girl bit as I'm male. :-D I admit that I occasionally think that about people. But I have never voiced such a thought. Not being able to filter such ...

Re: Finding a job

It's a shame that your mother can't be more supportive. It seems to me that she wants you to take on the responsibility of being an adult, but she also still acting as if you have only the knowledge of a child. Her attitude is counter-productive, to say the least. Anyway, reading your post I have a ...

It must be infuriating when a relative says 'why don't/can't you just...?'. I hate that phrase so much. It's usually the mark of a know-it-all, who hasn't put much thought into the matter at all!

Re: Burnout

There is definitely burn out with dyspraxia. You have to try so much harder than the average person to do things so you will get tired a lot more easily and this is made worse if you also have sensory processing problems. You will need a lot more breaks and more sleep especially if you expect to ju...

Re: Been alone for quite long

Hi. It's been almost 2 month since I did talked about myself, but considering my saying went unheard, I wasn't even sure if I could go on. Well, I got 26 two weeks ago. Which basically means that I have been 6 years alone, if I consider the trash, unealthy and distant thing I had with a sick person...

Re: Keeping Current With Fresh Posts

Well, you're correct. Also, as I had said previously to you in a pm, Americans live in a very large country, and the slang expressions vary from region to region, and from state to state, even from city to city. In New England, for instance, the word 'wicked' means extremely, such as 'the concert w...

Re: Can dyspraxic people drive manual cars

I certainly have been able to, but it's a different story for many dyspraxic people.

Like all "can dyspraxic people do?" questions, the answer to this one depends on the severity of the individual's dyspraxic condition and the particular symptoms that (s)he has.

Re: Does Anyone have Kids or want Kids

Whilst learning disabilities do have a hereditary factor, Dyspraxia is definitely not a dominant gene, so the chances are likely 25% or under. Also, it has been argued before that ASD may have been useful for evolution due to discoveries being made by high functioning autistic people. I've always w...

Me neither. I never liked kids much even when I was one myself. Still I respect each person's right to make their own decision on the matter.

[ I have been looking into doing an Open University course myself recently too. It's only £500 for the first year and could make an exponential difference to employment opportunity, even if one has done exceptionally well at college. I got the top mark at college, but it was a computer course back ...
