Re: At uni, newly diagnosed and panicking.

Hi :D A bit about myself, I'm Becky, 21, in my final year of Durham University studying Psychology and English. And just before my 21st birthday in March, I was diagnosed as dyspraxic and dyslexic. My first thought was anger - how had I gotten so far through the education system without someone say...

Re: At uni, newly diagnosed and panicking.

I don't know if this will help you guys but I have 2 degrees and a masters module, and I find that using subheadings to write all the bits of the essay, then editing out the subheadings helped as did mind maps and spider diagrams [these were especially good as I could write things as I thought of t...

Re: Wanting to do a PGCE...

sorry this reply is a bit late and I wonder how you are getting on and whether you applied to do a PGCE? I also got a 2.2 and really struggled with a lot of things that looking back could be to do with my potentially being dyspraxic. This year I am studying for post grad certificate and I have very ...

Re: STRUGGLING WITH UNDERSTANDING OF QUESTIONS AND FORMING A

bit of a late reply but would student support - ie academic skills be able to help you structure the essay? By braking down the title and structuring the essay into subsections this would give you a real pointer on how to proceed.

Hope that helps, best wishes

Re: Car Insurance? Higher probability of accidents?

Thank you for your replies. I do tend to drive with quite an excessive stopping gap and both my accidents (10 years apart) were when I was late, distracted and had someone literally slam on the brakes in front of me for no reason and I was unable to stop. For me I think its not really my driving tha...

links to dyslexia - hereditary?

Hi I know the symptoms of dyslexia are very similar in some cases to dyspraxia and that both conditions are hereditary. does that mean that they are the same type of 'gene' or 'DNA' or whatever? Why I ask is that ALL of my family are dyslexic and I am not - does coming from a family where 4 out of 6...

Re: Feeling emotional

Thank you both so much for your reply. Mopps - you made perfect sense! I've had a look on the dyspraxic foundation and I've also done on an online assessment through Dore - surprisingly (as this focuses on the motor skills which I don't feel I have a serious issue with) it shows I have a moderate pr...

Car Insurance? Higher probability of accidents?

Hi I'm a newbie - not yet diagnosed and I'm a driver. I've had a couple of accidents - both at slow speed and being unable presumably to correctly assess the correct distance and speed and not react quick enough to stop before going into the back of the person in front. I'm wondering if this is conn...

Re: Is my mate dyspraxic?

This is really interesting as I would say my dyspraxic alarm bells are ringing due to my lack of organisation and planning abilities - so I can not logically structure an essay - and this has been picked up by my MA tutor this week who is the one who has suggested i might be dyspraxic. (In that the ...

Feeling emotional

Hi My uni tutor mentioned to me yesterday that she felt I might be dyspraxic due to struggles I've been having. I thought it unlikely I have it especially as I don't consider myself particularly clumsy and I can ride a bike. However reading on through the list of symptoms I have a LOT of them - I've...

Hi!!

Hi I'm new to the forum. And am possibly an undiagnosed sufferer of mild to moderate dyspraxia so am here to read and ask for more information. I'm 40 so was quite surprised when my uni tutor suggested I could be dyspraxic. Having check online I find many of the symptoms fit me very well but others ...
