Re: Acquired dyspraxia?

Most of the difficulties I have had, particularly when I was younger, were most likely caused by problems I had with my head and brain a few weeks after I was born. Despite being seen by Neurologists, Psychologists and having CT Scans, I was never diagnosed at the time. But since doing a lot of ...

Update Following Autism Assesment

Hi, You may remember I posted a topic entitled "Undiagnosed & Fed Up Waiting" in the Introductions thread about seeking a diagnosis that would explain the difficulties I have experienced since I was a toddler, and how I was being referred for an Autism assessment. I had my Autism assessment about 25 ...

Re: Toe-walking

Wow I get the same thing a lot when I'm walking. I get a terrible pain in my instep, which gradually travels up my calf and shin and I have to either stop walking for a few minutes or start walking really slow. I never considered that it could be in someway linked the other difficulties I have/used ...

Toe-walking

I was talking to my mum earlier on about how old I was when I learned to walk. She said that I started walking when I was 18 Months Old, and that I was walking on my tip-toes until shortly before my 2nd birthday. I know that delays in reaching developmental milestones, like learning to walk, is part ...

Can video games help Dyspraxic difficulties?

I have just watched a video on youtube about how video games can help with certain medical conditions which cause difficulties with memory, planning and fine motor skills. This got me thinking. I have played video games since I was 7 years old, and it would be great to think that one of my favourite ...

Re: Undiagnosed & Fed Up Waiting

Hi Tim, Thanks for your reply. When I done the screener assessment, they did say that they were looking at Aspergers because of my motor skill and social difficulties. The main reason the Autism/Aspergers assessment came back as negative was because I wasn't showing any history of the behavioural ...

Re: muscle spasms in legs

I sometimes get muscle spasms in my legs at night when I'm lying in bed. It usually causes a weird "crawling" sensation and can make my whole leg jump and jerk, similar to the symptoms of Restless Leg Syndrome. It is really horrible and keeps me awake for ages :(

Re: dyspraxia sleeping problem/fears...

It has always taken me ages to get to sleep at night. When I was younger I would still be awake upto 3 hours after my mum put me to bed, then struggle to get up in the morning for school. I developed a habit of listening to my radio in bed because I was so bored from lying awake for hours. Even now ...

Re: Undiagnosed & Fed Up Waiting

Hi Tom, Thanks for your reply. It was very helpful. I think one of the main reasons I was referred to a psychiatrist was when I went to my GP I was more concerned about what was written in a psychology report I had done 6 months earlier. The psychologist suggested I was showing traits of Avoidant ...

Re: Is anyone else ambidextrous?

I use my left hand for writing, but everything else I do with my right hand, including using scissors. I do switch hands when one gets tired/sore. I put this down to the fact that I broke my right arm at 3 years old, at the time I was just learning my preferred writing hand.

Showing Facial Expressions

I have read a few websites which says Dyspraxics can have difficulty reading other people's facial expressions, but I was wondering if Dyspraxia could also affect a persons ability to show their emotions using facial expressions. Having discussed my early development with my mum, she said that it ...

Re: Undiagnosed & Fed Up Waiting

Thanks for your reply. I don't bother too much with genres. If it's loud and catchy enough with good guitar solos I'll listen to it  Interesting that you say I need an OT for a diagnosis. I seen an OT monthly for about 3 years from the age of 2 Years Old, to help bring on my development. My mum ...

I also leave my favourite piece of food on the plate until last  This next one is quite hard for me to explain, but I'll try my best. When I am excited, I interlock my hands like this: http://www.bradford.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/970DB083-A768-4474-9FE8-B38C80FEBE29/0/HandwashingStep6.jpg (best ...
