Re: Video games aren't a bad thing

In answer to favorite old school do you mean favorite for skill building/retention of favorites? In RPG I will always love Chrono Trigger. The original Legend of Zelda is action rpg or a similar catagory. Metroid, Mega Man are two others I love....but these are the early games. I also have some pre ...

Re: Can you swim?

Hmm I suspect one thing to ponder is swimming effectively to not drown/enjoy the water vs formal strokes. I am completely at home in the water and underwater frog is my primary stroke...I am also hopeless at most formal strokes. So contrast being called a fish by Grandpa with not progressing well at...

Re: Prom experiences please?

I knew I was a pariah/outsider/freak growing up so I made up a story about dating twins I met at overnight camp and did not go to any of the dances except the graduation one...where I sang Karaoke

Re: Asking for reasonable accomidations...in the USA

I don't really know these answers but my brother asked me what accomidations would it actually take to get me through a degree and I don't really know....It sounds like getting support there is rough here I'm not even sure how to define or get what it would take. Ihave educated guesses but how are p...

Re: Video games aren't a bad thing

I am going to come in firmly on the side of video games...but only the "right" video games as I was told to play then to build coordination as a young child and actually understood and was determined enough to take a systematic approach to doing exactly that....at six years of age. I spent...

Asking for reasonable accomidations...in the USA

So I am trying to put togethsr a reasonable and useful list of accomidations for use in school work etc....this thread is for school. I am desperate and creative enough to be seriously considering making a trip to the UK just to get a *useful* needs assessment if I can. I have work experiamce, consi...

Re: You know you're dyspraxic when

Your kitten decides she likes the "fresh pet" pet food (which has to be kept cold), so while working two jobs and having little time off you go to the pet store sort out all thier expired packages and clean them out of the five days worth that are not expired. You also go to the grocery st...

An ingenious or perhaps crazy idea

Some of you may have read my previous threads - I am pondering looking for a way to come to the UK, Ireland, Canada...a country that knows what the hell Dyspraxia is. I have been researching for more then 6 years and wish I could get a single bloody credential...but since I have dyspraxia and am 41 ...

Re: No Sense of Direction

Hi Rick, Welcome, dealing with our weakness is often a challenge. I see several things in your post. One is the often harsh price of living with dyspraxia where it may be misunderstood...are you US or UK based (or elsewhere) if I may ask? I understand about breaks almost not being worth it with the ...

I guess I'm an omnivert...either because I just am or because life with dyspraxia warped a natural extrovert into a weird hybrid being ;)

Re: Learning to drive

I drive...it was not easy but having really good reflexes helps. A few things that helped. I took most of the classroom portion first and I am a strong tester. So I came into thedriving portion with the instructor seeing me as cooperative and intelligent. Then I worked very hard had a good instructo...

Re: Navigating a broken system

I was not offended...I felt it important to clarify why it would seem quite odd to view me as dyslexic. Admittedly I do not actually know a lot about dyslexia....but growing up my school district basically had a program for kids with reading disabilities...and me. So I sat in the same room but seper...

Re: Navigating a broken system

I'd like you (and anyone else) to expand. One thing you should probably know is I am a very strong reader and I get paid to talk to people for a living. I have also spoken on stage, been in plays, sing karaoke, worked retail. You get the idea. So dyslexia would be another really bizare fit for me. I...
