Re: It's time to lose your dunce cap
I've always been very clever but often look like a complete idiot. I get words muddled up and I'm aware that I am doing it but I cannot prevent it from happening. I say 'erm' a lot mid sentence which has been pointed out to me throughout my life and I have been told to 'think before I speak' so I ...

Re: have i passed dyspraxia to my son?
I feel my best advice to you is to never feel guilty because you have given your child life which is the greatest gift of all. People from all walks of life can have difficulties but they are still here to work through them. My sister and her daughter both have epilepsy. When my sister was diagnosed ...

Re: Approaching my Doctor.
Well, I started to speak and got very upset and cried a bit. I told him about it all and how I'm now convinced I know what it is and he's going to try and help me. He tried to make me feel better when I told him everyone laughed at me when they realised I didn't know how I appear to people and that ...

Re: Unable to make my own meals
I hated cookery classes in school. I was certain the teacher hated me because I couldn't do anything right. My school report from her stated I was lazy and needed to try harder. I must've looked like an incompetent fool to her but I tried so much harder than everyone else but it didn't make the ...

Re: Swallowing Tablets.
My choices for pain relief are Calpol or Ibruprofen as they don't taste so bad. If there is nothing else I will chew paracetamol but would prefer not to as it's so disgusting. I've never found a soluble tablet I like either. The 'gag reflex' is a good way of explaining it. That's how it feels to me.

Swallowing Tablets.
I'm in my thirties and have never been able to swallow tablets. When people are baffled by this I describe it as not knowing how to do it and it always seems like I have an incorrect reflex action which closes my throat. Does anyone else have this problem? It always shocks people as they say it's ...

Re: Embarrassing Incidents In Public
I fall down stairs often so I guess it's only a matter of time before I embarrass myself again. There are 2 times when I've fallen at the worst time. I was involved in a car crash which was entirely the other woman's fault (she even admitted it at the scene). When she later disputed it I went to her ...

Approaching my Doctor.
Hi. I realised yesterday that there is a strong possibility I have Dyspraxia. I'm already seeing the Doctor tomorrow and want to mention it but I feel so daunted at the prospect and scared he will not understand where I am coming from. I didn't even know about Dyspraxia until yesterday. I had never ...

Re: Mental "blackouts"
I get this a lot. Most of the time it's over quickly but I do sometimes have particularly bad episodes. My worst one was a few years back when I was shopping with a friend a girl called my name and I turned round and saw someone that I knew I knew but couldn't place her or remember her name. The ...

Hi All.
Hello. I stumbled upon information on Dyspraxia today and I'm certain I have it. I had never heard about it before and have always been a bit 'odd'. Now I know about it I see so many of the symptoms in myself and feel both scared and relieved. I asked my family about things I wasn't sure about and ...
