Re: Any Dyspraxic Secondary Maths teachers out there?

Anywhere I've worked either has only normal white boards or if they have IWBs they are horrible things that you end up HAVING to type as where you put the marker is somewhere completely different. I've never really had a problem with spelling to be honest and my handwriting is ok. On our CELTA we we...

Re: tidying and getting stressed about it

My housemate is absolutely awesome in this regard, his attitude is he has no problem telling me to do the dishes, or tidy up the communal areas,or air my room and give it a quick tidy, as he understands that I don't see mess. So long as when he asks me to do something I do it!

One that a school classmate coined shortly after I was diagnosed:
How many dyspraxic s does it take to change a lightbulb?
Just one but a hell of a lot of light bulbs!

More to come later when I can be bothered.

Worked as a holiday rep in Tunisia (all along the east coast), Corfu (Kassiopi but had to know about whole island), Costa del Sol and Menorca in Spain plus now live in Madrid, Romania (Brasov), Andorra (Soldeu) & Marmaris in Turkey so any questions on any of them feel free to ask. Regarding Roma...

Re: You know you're dyspraxic when

You know you're dyspraxic when friends say don't worry that's an (insert name here) thing. When you learn a dance routine by inventing names for every single step and it becomes your own personal lyrics to the song. When you don't bother finishing a sentence because its so obvious what you're going....

Re: Hearing everything all at once?

First thing I do when I enter a room is turn on the tv to create some auditory stimuli. But yes I have often been known to flit between conversations and have now got into the habit of saying hang on if I jump out of a conversation to add to another conversation. I think my brain constantly filters ...

Re: Any Dyspraxic Secondary Maths teachers out there?

Another English teacher here I'm afraid (TEFL), the biggest factor that I've found with myself is that, my writing arm can get tired easily when doing a lot of board work and often I end up closing one eye when writing. Dunno if this is a me thing or a dyspraxia thing though. Regarding speech stuff,...

Re: Table manners / food issues

I have developed an unusual habit of eating mostly one handed, I tend to only use a fork and my right hand, although this is more due to the fact that I often have a book in my left hand. Only really use two hands when need to cut something like meat, otherwise cutting veg etc with the edge of the f...

Well hello

Hi, my names Al, I was diagnosed with dyspraxia round about the time of my G.C.S.E.s and am now 32, spent 7 years working as a holiday rep & now teach English to foreigners.
Enjoy reading, watching TV & DVDs, collect postcards.
