Re: Standing Up for Myself
So sorry to hear what you're going through. I strongly recommend you do an assertiveness course - it makes an amazing difference to your confidence, and teaches you to know and believe that you have the right to be treated with respect. I did mine through the NHS due to my depression, see if this is ...

Re: Little experiment; What do you all do?
At school I was continually praised for my poetry, by teachers and peers, and even won a prize in primary school. At Uni (in my 40s!) I ambitiously decided to do Media Arts, despite no experience - I was thrilled when my first short film was awarded a high 2:1 - I'd never even held a camcorder ...

Re: Make me smile
I found an assertiveness course extremely helpful in communicating confidently. There are some good books, and you can find free leaflets at http://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/freedownloads.htm - although if you can attend a course it is the best way to learn. I attended mine through the NHS, as part of ...

Re: Do others have these problems with dyspraxia?
I find the anxiety of it all is tiring though The extra effort needed every day to just walk without falling over, dress properly, listen to others without interrupting etc is tiring. It can help to be aware of this extra strain on our energy, and give ourselves rests through the day. I've found ...

Re: More Involuntary Celibate Dyspraxic Males than Females?
" Incel and Love Shy are similar conditions, but there is a subtle difference. The former implies that the sufferer has the confidence to look for romance but is constantly rejected, while the latter implies lack of success due to not having the confidence to approach people." I'm 53 and have been ...

Re: Do others have these problems with dyspraxia?
Reading this site is a revelation to me! The more I read, the more things over the years fall into place, or rather, into the 'Aah! So it was the dyspraxia all along!' box. When working in an office I would get migraine headaches, in the end I had a tint added to my reading glasses and that helped a ...

Re: Dyspraxia and Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with M.E. last year, looking at the Fibromyalgia symptoms I feel I'm closer to this than M.E. (My specialist says that the conditions tend to overlap so he personally doesn't worry too much about clear definition between the two). As I'm certain I have dyspraxia I would be very ...

Re: Fatigue
My guess is that even if there is no medical link between dyspraxia and fatigue, someone with Dyspraxia will become tired and even exhausted sooner than someone who doesn't have the condition, simply because it's so exhausting trying to do the normal stuff everyone does without hurting yourself ...

Re: How did you find out about the Dyspraxic Adults Forum?
I was actually searching for images for a Dyspraxic board I've made on Pinterest. If you can, it might be an idea to put up an image that people can pin to Pinterest, at the moment there isn't an image people can grab to share the site with their followers/others. Do contact me if you want any ...

Re: So glad
Thank you for the welcomes, it does seem a lovely, friendly forum. I haven't responded before because this is a crazily busy time for me - only two appointments this week and one next, but as I have M.E. as well as dyspraxia and only normally go out occasionally, this is hectic for me. Probably daft ...

So glad
Hi I am so glad to have found this site. Although not yet diagnosed, I am certain I have dyspraxia. Reading 'You know you have Dyspraxia when...' has been reassuring, in seeing that there are others doing just the same dyspraxic things as me. I only realised that childhood years of being told off ...
