Re: MUSICIANS WANTED!
Hi! I didn't see this thread the first time round... I play a variety of instruments, I started out on the violin aged 4/5, piano a couple of years later, and at 12/13ish I started playing the guitar. These days I can knock out a tune on most instruments given a few minutes to get a feel for it (exc...

Re: Romantic Dilemma
Honesty is always the best approach if you ask me. Tell her that you are no good at reading signals and never have a clue whether or not someone is interested therefore you have to be blunt and speak plainly. Then tell her that you like her and hope she feels the same way. That's just my advice thou...

Re: Any tips for winding down after work?
I slept okay, but I'd wake up after a couple of hours after dreaming about work. Yup, I do that a lot, I think it made worse by the fact that I'm still on three month probation (not cos I've messed up its just standard policy) so I'm even more stressed because until that's up they have the right to...

Re: Struggling with new job.
Hi Captain Ludd, I'm also a software developer and I actually think it fits pretty well with the way the dyspraxic brain thinks. I suspect a few other developers in the team may be similarly wired up top, and we have one other guy with severe Aspergers. First up, for what it's worth software develop...

Hi Liam Another computer related person then (I'm a software developer). There don't seem to be too many of us on the forum, though I suspect that a number of my colleagues are the same - just of an age (late 40s and 50s) where it wasn't really given any consideration at school. Welcome. Regards, Phil

rmel82, The words "This man needs a copy of 'Eats, shoots & Leaves'" are written in red ink on the front cover of the thesis I submitted for my PhD. Regardless of this I was still awarded my PhD, and I have twice been asked to take research jobs (offers rejected by me as I'm happy wher...

Re: A particular night
I think that some people struggle to see things from anything other than their own perspective. Maybe he's struggling to see that you are quite happy with the circle of friends you have, in the same way I'm struggling to see why anyone would feel that they need to be close buddies with everyone they...

I hope it all comes good at some point. I assume the internal redeployment is still moving ahead?

Re: Do any other Dyspraxics get mistaken for Gay?
I have to say that this thread has made me chuckle, and yes I can relate. I have been queried on this when younger as well. On some occasions I was out with gay friends at gay bars - so no real surprises there and fair enough. But had it a fair few other times as well. I've always put it down to the...

Re: Baaargh so fed up and frustrated.
Hi Jim, I didn't realise you were working in nursing. Do you mind me asking what it is that you do? My wife used to work as a doctor, and I know a bit about what it is like through her. I'm fully aware of how dramatically the environment can vary from one ward to the next, even within the same hospi...

Re: Open Plan Offices.
I work in an open plan office as well. I have headphones I can stick on with my choice of music (for whatever reason I find music less distracting than other background noise). I find that helps. I am also by sheer good fortune tucked away in a quiet corner.

Good luck with the redeployment, I did similar about 18 months ago and it has worked wonders. I'm hoping it all works out well for you!

Re: Exercise to improve stamina, fatigue and weak muscles?
I enjoy walking as well. Not that I have much time for it now I have children, it'll be good to take them out when they're a bit older though. In terms of strengthening muscles etc, I found going to a gym and using all the upper body stuff there really helpful. The employer I had at the time include...
