Re: How did you feeling when you found out you had dyspraxia?
When my parents initially self-diagnosed me (they watched a TV documentary on Dyspraxia one evening in 1997) and told me they were going to get an assessment for it carried out, I refused to accept it, as I thought the problems I was having at school were simply caused by me not trying hard enough. ...

Re: At what age did you learn to swim , or can't you swim?
I learned to swim when I was 10 as my primary school had weekly compulsory swimming lessons, which took place on Friday mornings. Unfortunately I only achieved 10 metres because when I was in Year 6 the school modified its policy so that the older Infants (Year 2) and younger juniors (years Three an...

Re: Where are we all !?
I was born in County Durham but grew up in North Yorkshire. I now live in County Durham again (having returned there a couple of years ago).

Re: Touch screen phones
It took me some time to master a touch screen phone. I used to swipe the screen a little too firmly, which could lead to me opening applications which I had not intended to use.

Re: What Was Your Teen Social Life Like?
My teenage social life was rather small. I had two best friends in secondary school, but not that many other friends, mainly because my school was a comprehensive school where the majority of the kids preferred to have friends who were completely 'normal' and weren't that interested in ones who were...

Re: Dispraxic people working retail?
It is possible to work in retail and be dyspraxic. Last summer I worked in a primarily retail based job on a theme park, which I was reasonably successful in (amazingly given that my background to that point wasn't in that type of work).

Re: Blackadder
I enjoy Blackadder. I've watched it ever since my teenage years. In fact I've recently bought the entire run (the 4 series made between 1983 and 1989, i.e. The Black Adder to Blackadder Goes Forth , plus the 1999 special Blackadder Back and Forth ) as a DVD box set. Regarding the posts about a new s...

Re: Forgetting stuff
There was once a time not so long ago when I went into town and left my debit card at home (I'd used it the previous evening to pay for something online and had forgotten to return it to my wallet). Luckily, because I still had some money left over from a previous visit to the bank, I was fortunatel...

Re: Can you swim?
I learned in primary school. It took me a long time though, and as a result, the end of primary school came before I exceeded ten metres. So I can still only swim ten metres as a consequence.

When I was at Uni I managed to negotiate extra time in exams, which definitely helped.

Re: Is it hard working with Dyspraxia ?
Ultimately a lot depends on the work itself. However a lot does depend on the employee being good. So far in work I have tried to be a dead reliable employee at all times (for instance in my previous role I was never late for work), and also tried to be chatty and polite with all the customers of th...
