WAIS psychology test vs OT assessment

I have just received my WAIS results in a report. According to my psychologist I have learning difficulties but no specific learning disorder. She said if I had one score different i would have been diagnosed with something (but what she did not say). She has offered me no techniques to help me with...

Re: Hi everyone!

Well my WAIS scores are in. verbal 108-119 at 85th percentile, Perceptual reasoning 84-97 at 25th percentile, Working memory 72-85 at 6th percentile, processing speed 82-98 or 23rd percentile. I am confused. She also said there isn't a big enough difference between some of the scores. She also said ...

Re: Insensitive family members

I do know of a close friend who has had difficulty learning (not dyspraxia) and his parents treat him differently to his siblings. There's not much to say except, it happens. I don't really know what to suggest for you. People can be ignorant. I think your sister offering to help is a 'nice' thing, ...

Getting credited for what you know

I'm in a very angsty mood at the moment. I have been thinking about how my intelligence is viewed by others. I know what I am good at. I am good at logic, language and creativity. I identify as having dyspraxic qualities but I have not been diagnosed as dyspraxic. I am slow to pick things up, slow t...

Re: Hi everyone!

Thanks AlleyCat. I appreciate that you can relate to my situation. Unfortunately the only site I have seen for Australians is for dyspraxic children and I think even they are poorly funded. I read they were appealing for more money a while back and now their website isn't working. Promising isn't it...

Re: Dyspraxic or just pathetic?

Hi. I know you're not pathetic but I dunno about dyspraxic. I don't have a formal diagnosis of dyspraxia, but I think I fell pretty close for being diagnosed with it on the WAIS. I have fantastic grades in university and I am smart enough to get two degrees so far, and do honours (which was admitted...

Re: Should I get a second opinion

Yes. My GP said I don't have dyspraxia because I could follow his finger or some rubbish. They are testing you for some acute brain injury so the neurologist sounds like he doesn't have a clue. Go to see someone else.

Re: New to the forum, but not to Dyspraxia

By the way your husband telling you he hates your cooking is not cool. He could at least try being helpful and constructive in what he says. And if he doesn't cook he's being a hypocrite.

Re: New to the forum, but not to Dyspraxia

Hi there i'm new here too.I do understand your frustration. I beat myself up about a lot of things. I think it just gets to be a habit. But I agree with some other people on the forum. Be kind to yourself and stay optimistic. There is a way around most things. I love making curries with salad and ri...

Hi everyone!

Hi, my name is Linda. My boyfriend is an OT student and through observing me he informally diagnosed me with dyspraxia a while back. I got checked out by a psychologist and she told me I have been having difficulties relating to working memory and perceptual reasoning. My verbal reasoning is very hi...
