Re: Good Hobbies/Activities for dyspraxics

10 pin bowling is great. I bowl every Saturday in a League. We're only a small league and vastly varying in ability, but we all have fun!

Re: Does anyone else here have uncontrolled twitching?

My legs twitch and kick alot. More so if I'm tired but just normally they're constantly moving. Even at night in bed, they kick out alot! The pain is excruciating when they're really bad.

Re: Fear of running, bad balance

I swear, I can not tell you how many times I have twisted my ankle running and it being so painful. Does anyone here have poor leg ligaments? I think it was basically an added bonus which I was born with along with Dyspraxia, but basically I walk like a penguin as natural habit because I, one, have ...

Re: Feet Problems & Dyspraxia

I have feet problems! Dont know if it's Dyspraxia related or not tho. My feet 'turn outwards' and I tend to walk on the side of my feet. I'm also shockingly 'knock knee'd'!! My hamstrings are also really tight because they're shorter than they should be!! My feet, legs, hands and arms were actually ...

Re: Forgetfulness

I'm the same, the more tired I am, the more I forget stuff, I zone out, everything aches, I bump into stuff. Just part and parcel, I guess of having Dyspraxia. Maybe print out information for your friend to read. Actually, just thought of another thing .... get your friend to print out a list of the ...

Re: WORK FOR DOLE

They have Work for the Dole here in Australia. It gets the dole bludgers off their asses and doing something constructive with their days. Here, if you have a disability and can work, you're usually placed with a job finding agency that specialises in people with disabilities, you are then exempt ...

Re: Difficult Birth - Is there a connection?

Just seen this thread .... I have an official diagnosis of Dyspraxia, but also have autisitic/Aspergers traits. I was a difficult birth requiring forceps and even then they struggled to get me out. This has actually left me with 2 reasonable sized dents in my head!! My brother has Aspergers traits ...

Re: Dyspraxia has changed my life

Hi Shakey, How frustrating to get an appointment while you’re away. I hope you get another soon, keep me posted. Tillydog – I’m in central NSW, so my doctor would refer to Sydney if he believed me – not sure but I’ll go and see him. Some other doctors in the area refer to Canberra. Could I have the ...

Re: Dyspraxia has changed my life

Shakey, I hope your son gets a diagnosis soon. It took me 2 years to get someone to refer us to a pediatrician who then told me I was a neurotic mother! Another 9 months trying to get him referred by his preschool teacher, who didn’t want to know and then suddenly said “Kim, I think theres som ...

Re: Butlins

When we were growing up, we used to go to the Butlins at Bognor Regis, West Sussex as day visitors to use the pool and waterslides. As an adult, I went once to what was the Butlins camp at Pwllheli, North Wales (now Haven apparently) .... Hated it, but I think that was down to who I went with ...
