Re: I'm dyspraxic, my fiance is incredibly dexterous
I wrote the OP four years ago. Everything has worked out wonderfully. I'm sitting here happily typing while my 9 month old daughter plays on the floor. Luckily she shows no signs of dyspraxia and every sign of being like my dexterous husband (the dexterous fiance of the OP). I am also looking at the...

RPGs
Anyone besides me like Dungeons and Dragons? My fiance introduced me to it and now I have some lovely dice and several books of monsters and cityscapes and things. I'm looking for published adventures at the moment to hone my DMing skills (I've only done it once for said fiance) or people to play wi...

These sound like lousy psychiatrists/psychologists
Anyone who tells you dyspraxia is psychological should actually probably not have been given their diploma in psychology. If depression is caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain, then surely dyspraxia is caused by something. Most psychiatrists worth their salt will say that your dyspraxia ...

clear escalators
It depends on the escalator for me. I really have trouble on escalators with clear sides out in the open air like you find in John Lewis or Debenham's. It triggers terror in me. My fiance had to literally pull me onto one the other day. And, I agree, what is it with those people who stand right in f...

I know what you mean. I also tend to find it hard to just participate in one conversation if other people are talking in the background. As far as background music, if it has to be there, I'd prefer it be classical. I suspect actually that the loud pub music or the football or whatever has contribut...

Thanks!
Yay! thank you all for your help! I just managed to put on a duvet cover perfectly. It took me two tries but that's still an improvement on the ten it used to take me! It's good to have this place to post to as you all will know why I'm so pleased about this

Sleep
I found that I had trouble sleeping but exercising before bed helps. I usually do crunches and leglifts before and then I tire myself out that way. Also, think about what you do during the day. Often, if you're bored your brain doesn't work enough to make you tired. But exercise really helps.

Vertigo
My fiance says the thing where you don't like heights like cliffs is more a fear of edges than of heights which explains to me why I'm ok in an airplane but have trouble getting on top of a stepladder to take a box of skulls down. Does anyone else really hate those escalators that you find in places...

Eldest
Eldest of two. Never understood myself when growing up as both my parents and my younger sister were all fantastically coordinated athletes. Granted, my parents were athletes in high school but still clearly well coordinated as adults. didn't help that my whole family is super-intelligent so even my...

Numbers and letters
I tend to assign genders to letters and numbers, I don't know why but I enjoy it. For example, 'a' and 'c' are feminine to me and 'b' and 'd' are masculine as are the numbers '10' and '15'. Does anyone else do this?
I also just like to listen to nice voices wash over me.

I'm dyspraxic, my fiance is incredibly dexterous
I love my fiance to bits but we're having trouble because while I am dyspraxic and therefore not at all good with my hands, he is capable of painting the eyes on toy soldiers that are no more than three inches tall. He gets exasperated with me because I tend to spread things all over and not be able...
