Re: Looking for friendship and love in Preston or Lancashire

Hope it proves fruitful Generally try to get out and do things you enjoy and try chatting to anyone who is receptive. If people aren’t receptive move on, they may be locked in their own thoughts and not in the mood, which is not your fault or problem. The other thing you might consider is Meet Up or...

Re: Staying in Bad Situations Too long/ Faulty Delayed Crisis Assessment Skills

I see it as caring enough to persist when a lot of people will say screw this I will fight it tooth and nail until it is sorted. Of course sometimes I might be better off saying screw it it can sort itself out as it really isn’t my problem so I’ll hand it over or hand it back. Sometimes it pays to w...

Re: Hello from Yorkshire

Hello and welcome You most certainly are not alone and quite few people in their 40s and older find out they’re affected having somehow got along for years knowing they were different but not really having any kind of explanation as to why. Even armed with this info, we have to process this new info...

Re: Does Anyone have Kids or want Kids

Kids are young goats and I have a bit of dislike for goats as I was bunted in the behind at a Circus when I was young. They make an OK curry but it is totally wrong to do that with human children! Not sure I'm particularly enamoured by the idea of children either, but guess if the little monster (he...

Re: Driving For A Living

The old polite small talk chestnut. Some people are equally unsure so we British can always find something to say about the weather. We generally aren't the type to gossip about others, which is often a big water cooler topic in many workplaces " Do you know her from accounts? The cleaner caugh...

Hi and welcome Not sure how many women we have here from Lancs so fear your post may not be seen by your target female audience. If you're on 'Faceache' (other social media platforms exist) it might be worth posting in Dyspraxia focused groups (but not Dyspraxia - Dyspraxic Adults Surviving in a non...

Re: Have I compromised my job position because of my dyspraxia?

The fear is very real and impossible to ignore but maybe if it comes to that you need to view them as an employer who failed as much as their potentially viewing you as a failed employee!. You proved you could excel and they need to create conditions where their employees are content and incentivise...

Re: Have I compromised my job position because of my dyspraxia?

Significant change in the workplace can easily cause things to come undone. We can’t assume HR informed your management chain when you joined or that your management understood or knew how to best help you. You declared to HR so they can’t pin failure to declare on you. Involving union is also good/...

Glad he is better

I would press the agency to ask why this has happened. Unfortunately via an agency you likely have a lot fewer rights than a directly employed person and your tenure is very much at the whim of the client company with whom the agency place you.

Re: Finished.

Unless you emailed your boss personally the email may not have reached the right person quickly enough. Do you know if he/she received your email?

I would seriously go to see your boss to explain in person and/or write to HR people to give your account of what happened.

How is your Dad now

Re: Finished.

Sorry to hear this and I can understand that popping into work to inform your boss/management in person about the circumstances for your absence was unlikely to have occurred to you given you were understandably preoccupied but you have to ensure you let your employer know that you needed to deal wi...

Hi Sam Looking forward to reading more from you. I know a little about Camp America insofar as I met a few people who'd done it and were taking a break and joined Trek America small group holidays that I went on. This was before I really knew much about/understood my own Dyspraxicness since all but ...

Re: Feeling terrified

Please try not to feel fearful of saying no and meaning it. It puts you in a position of power. Aso make sre to formally ask for a copy of your terms of employment. They are legally obliged to provide you with a copy of these.

Thanks for your considered response and sorry you felt offended. I agree 'Gaytarded' should be consigned to the dustbin. Pissed in American English is used to describe being annoyed, rather meaning drunk in British English. As you say we make it through the storm in our own way and need to find a po...
