Re: Children
Hello to all, and good to meet you. I was diagnosed with developmental dyspraxia at age 4. I am now 43, and have an 11 month old son. I recently moved away from his father, who was a drug addict and mentally abusive. I have always struggled with maintaining a work-life balance, cleaning, cooking, o...

Re: Looking for experts by experience to support in conference presentation
Anyone who claims expertise is unlikely to be an expert - sorry I cannot actively help maybe have a go at the questionnaire and contact those writers following the dyspraxia foundation's closure. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelH6kRyMSloneWXDPa-JK20yMv30yTcikbRfWcVZ5L9wddkg/viewform?pli...

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Please add more ideas/suggestions
1) I'm based in the UK and believe I may be dyspraxic, what are my best options for diagnosis/assessment?
2) is it worth it? What help will I get?

Re: Dyspraxic Adults to organise together
Hi Andrew
I've sent you a private message.
Updated. Now I've had chance to look more closely at the link on my main computer I see it's in the DyspraxiaUK group on FB. Regrettably I'm not rejoining that group any time soon on a matter of principle.

Re: Does the condition worsen with age?
Aging is a degenerative condition. Sadly I don't think there has been much research into whether or to what extent dyspraxia and aging have a dual impact.

Re: Hello!
Hi Jan and Everyone I have just found this site and joined. Like you, Jan, I date back to the time of the dinosaurs when dyspraxia hadn't been heard of. I was the kid in school whose work always got a red line through it and the comment 'untidy work'. I just couldn't write tidily but no one underst...

Hi Humpty86 Hi and welcome All too often there is little or no NHS provision pathway for adults. Private assessment seem to cost of the order of £500+.Dyspraxia UK have a network of Occupational Therapists (OTs) or PATOSS are an association for specialist teachers who might be able to assess. Depend...

Re: Dyspraxic Adults to organise together
Hi Andrew Regrettably this forum is something of a backwater these days and doesn't get the level.of activity that many of the social media platforms get. Also I think people are still in shock and/or waiting for more details to emerge. I think the key questions and needs to be met are How in the cu...

Re: Dyspraxic Adults to organise together
I think there definitely needs to be a federated and/or coordinated approach. I think any new charity or social enterprise arising out of the ashes once the dust settles needs to have a sustainable operating/funding model. I know some are angry about the collapse of the DF and are saying the new CEO...

Hi Wish Welcome to the Forum. Not personally, though these type of sensory things are not uncommon for those in the Dyspraxic / Neurodivergent communities I don't much like cold water or certain texturess of material next to my skin or in food. Some dyspraxics like and seek deep pressure as this can...

Re: Help me learn how to remember
I decided to become an Accountant BEFORE I learned I have Dyspraxia. May have gone down a different mid-life career route. The memory aspect of accounting is huge. That said, Accounting is a great job path for people with Dyspraxia in regards to finding work that is very repetitive and you can mast...

Re: Dyspraxia Foundation forced to cease operations.
Hi Mimi It's generally social chit chat but we will share experiences/perspectives and ideas for solutions/coping strategies. Suspect a lot of talk may be on the demise of the DF and our reactions to that. I've been doing these roughly once a month after resuming in Feb. We could potentially vary th...
