Re: PILL

Things have got easier now I'm less at war with myself. The extent to which we thrive or merely 'survive'is also very dependent on the amount of support, encouragement and acceptance we get from the people around us. Maybe we need an L pill for those who are nothing but unkind and unwilling to ...

Re: Awareness-raising

They might counter that only you as the individual apply to Access To Work, though I would argue the employer needs to be on-side and give you confidence in that. It's in their interests if you apply early as ATW can pick up more of the cost if adjustments required are costly. DF announced cessation ...

Re: Private assessment

A representative of Dyspraxia UK spoke at the Dyspraxia Foundation Conference I attended in 2023. Not used them myself but a friend once spoke to them with a view to self funding and they weren't forcing them to sign on the dotted line and pay up, rather they were suggesting ways she might be able ...

Re: What are your experiences with Disability Employment Advisors?

She said people who are neurodivegent are disproportionately self employed. Sorry to hear your experience has been so awful That ...

Re: where I went wrong in my last job

It might help to be more upfront about your condition next time, so managers can offer better support. In the future, try to clarify tasks and ask for help if something’s unclear. The danger here can that not all managers have an adequate awareness of or acceptance of dyspraxia/neurodivergence. ...

Re: Another Newbie

Hi MrsBobs Based on what you've said it is entirely possible you have dyspraxia, indeed quite a lot of people recognise they have similar traits when their children are identified There's no requirement to be diagnosed/confirmed or otherwise justify yourself to post here. As many as a third of our ...

Re: Diagnose

Hi Samy Regrettably it's not a straightforward answer. Some of the problem around the lack of provision for identifying Dyspraxia is because it seems to fall between clinical and special educational provision. As long as the medical side have ruled out other causes, a Dyspraxia Assessment ...
