Re: New house problems

One thing you might consider is creating a more organized and clutter-free space. Maybe rearranging furniture to create clearer pathways or using soft barriers (like cushions or mats) in areas where you tend to trip could help minimize accidents. It might also be worth discussing with your partner ...

Re: Tips for trying to help someone understand dyspraxia?

Another way to look at would be what would you say to a friend or family member if they told you they were in this situation with their partner?

Unfortunately you will encounter people who will not listen and who can only see explanations as excuses.

Re: Tips for trying to help someone understand dyspraxia?

I'm concerned you are clearly trapped in a coercive and abusive relationship with this 'man' (I hesitate to use that term).

Please get help and support. He needs to accept you and your dyspraxia.

Believing that you/your condition are the main/only problem(s) is deeply concerning.

Re: Does anyone else struggle with technology?

. [Suspicious url removed by Admin] Paul It really does feel like the world is moving too fast for people who prefer simpler, more accessible technology, and your experience shows how frustrating that can be. Touch screens and smartphone menus can be overwhelming, especially when companies assume ...

Re: To all members

We politely tequest that use of terms like suffer with are avoided.

Vomiting and diahorrea are examples of symptoms. Dyspraxia is not an illness or a disease and saying or suggesting dyspraxia fall into either category is wholly unacceptable.

Many thanks for your attention to this matter.

Re: emotional overload

Welcome.

Emotional overload and/or being prone to overthinking and even burnout is quite common.

While it can be viewed as something autistic it can definitely affect those of us who have dyspraxia and/or ADHD too.

Re: Joint Pain at Work

Hi Blue Welcome to the Forum. Some dyspraxics have co-occurring conditions such as joint hypermobility or Ehlers Danloss Syndrom so it's important to seek the advice of a medical professional. Dyspraxics present in differing ways so asking questions like this is difficult because other dyspraxics ...

Re: Friend shamed me for being unable to use a can opener

Your friends reaction is inexcusable and it's also sad no one has taken the time to help you find an accessible means for you to open tins independently

Some tins do defy attempts to.open them!

Re: Doing my thesis

I'm struggling with my undergraduate thesis. I have been trying to do it but when I work on it, my mind goes blank, and I'm stuck with 0 progress since last semester. When I discussed it with my lecturer, I was having a hard time explaining it, and it was pretty difficult for me to find topics ...

Hi and welcome
You're definitely not worthless or useless though the feeling we are is regrettably all too common.

So often unkind and unfair things are said and we internalise and repeat them to ourselves over and over.

Hi Tom

Welcome.
Provision of and access to assessment is woeful for adults.

If your able to afford it a private assessment is an option.
Advice on potential avenues is variable dependent on circumstances.

Re: 65 years old - just learned there is something called dyspraxia

I almost definitely can self diagnose myself as dyspraxic at the age of 70. I appear to be a textbook example of the syndrome but I don't think apart from dyscalcia I have any other specific learning difficulties. Formal diagnosis is expensive to obtain , but a lot of problems I have had in my life ...

Re: Finding my footing after the diagnosis

Hi Austtin Welcome. It can take a while to process the diagnosis and what it means and who and when to mention to others. Quite a lot of dyspraxics are creative and some do their craft for work. Some dyspraxics have ADHD or traits that you'd commonly identified with being ADHD but not necessarily ...
