Re: Is my daughter Dyspraxic?

Believe me, it was a much more gentle and considered reply than my initial reaction!

How do you think your daughter (or another member of our community) would be feeling if they visited and read your ‘matter of fact and concise', post slagging them off in this way?

Re: Is my daughter Dyspraxic?

Hi, I hope this’ll be okay. I’m trying to figure out whether my daughter may be Dyspraxic. She’s nearly 40 years old. We’ve always had a difficult relationship. Throughout all the years she lived at home she never once ‘tidied’ her room when taken to task. Instead, she’d sit with something very sma...

Re: Being more of a community

I think many of us can be overly reticent and I haven’t been to any Dyspraxia Foundation events such as their AGM due to costs of travel staying overnight to attend such events This morning I took part in a group online video chat with some other Dyspraxics I’ve met via Facebook-based Dyspraxia Comm...

Re: Anyone else have low muscle tone and bad back pain?

welcome and Sorry for tardy response

Some people with Dyspraxia seem to also have Hypermobility Syndrome. Not an expert but seems to be at least anecdotal evidence of related joint problems

Even in UK there doesn’t seem to be great deal of research into this area

Re: Anger and Difficulty Letting go

Definitely applies to me. I'm like a dog with a bone and am not one to let something go, especially if I feel like I'm being fobbed off. It definitely pays to try to use charm with call centre operatives. Regrettably they don't always have the authority or knowledge to understand or deal quickly wit...

Re: Having confidence to dance

Hi Teena and welcome I'm rubbish at dancing too and not a great fan. I did get tricked/convinced into going to Jive lessons about 8 or 9 Years ago. As long as you don't take yourself too seriously and can enjoy it and practice frequently, it isn't bad exercise and you get to meet new people. I did k...

Re: How do you balance what you need from your social relationships?

It brings home the fact that many people with a variety of disabilities /conditions become prisoners in their own homes. I managed to get a scary but comparatively minor viral upper respiratory tract infection and but for friends family kindlly being there, it still feels very isolating. Also with D...

Re: Anger issues and Dyspraxia

I have GTA 3 San Andreas in my collection and just gave up on trying to play it to be honest. Not sure I even completed the early mission where you have to drive your homies to the Drive by. Got a bit lost! Def hard as we often lack the competitive ability aven though we're intelligent Dyspraxia can...

Re: Anger issues and Dyspraxia

Hi Richard and welcome. Somebody recently sent me a link to this You Tube Video on the subject of Dyspraxia and resentment Hope you find it useful/helpful but do say if not https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq73RXm84co&app=desktop&fbclid=IwAR0gafIE6edi2hCFfSzp8tv-Rb6Ur3lIvjIaj7BLO4qfg3r_ziLIN6wjPdA I ...

Re: How do you balance what you need from your social relationships?

I think like many people we can be quite contradictory. Sometimes we need solitude and other times we crave interaction of the kind we need I don't drive either. I now live in a small city with relatively good public transportation links bus/train. I think not driving causes some people difficulty i...

Re: Dyspraxia flare-ups?

I definitely have days when it affects me more and do find there is a direct relationship with stress and tiredness. I liken mine to a mischievous goblin alter ego who follows me around trying to foul up my plans. Some of the time I keep him in check with pre-planning care and good humour, other day...

Hi Button and a v warm welcome

We don't insist on a formal diagnosis as obtaining one is rarely plain sailing.

Hope you find site useful and supportive and do feel free to ask anything.

Re: Not Another New Dysplexic Member

Hi and apologies for slow response. It was interesting to read your introduction and I do like that it is long and wide ranging. I think despite our having common condition there is a lot of diversity amongst people with dyspraxia /dyspraxic people and we can have completely different outlooks and d...
