Re: Can openers!

Correct that managed to work it out,but will I remember next time? Is that a dyspraxic thing I wonder-variable ability to do a task? " Variable performance- better at a task one day, poorer the next," http://www.snagroup.ie/index.php/dys2 Manage Yes I would say it is. My Tin opener seems ...

Re: Losing jobs.

Allesandro Not sure it would have blindest bit of difference with the boss you had anyway. She sounds like a right dragon. I'm conscious there are likely some protectons for people with disabilities/cognitive prosessing difference. How well do they work? We have the Equality Act, though I think some...

Re: Resigned from my job today

For the record I think she had it coming and many others would have told her to take a hike (or much worse) a long time ago! Is she the most senior person or is there someone above/below her who could talk sense into her if she is too stubborn to apologise? I would say I have a good grasp of IT but ...

Re: conversation and speech greatly effecting relationships

Hi and welcome Whilst I can't personally relate directly to what you've posted I can certainly sense the anxiety it's causing you. Dyspraxia can and does affect short term memory and cause us to forget and/or jumble up our words. This naturally heightens anxiety and we have a vicious circle to deal ...

Re: Losing jobs.

Shaw Trust is actually who I worked for and really enjoyed the time being there. I used to suffer from panic attacks when I was younger, which I thought had gone, but they come back when I'm put in a group of unknown people or get frustrated with the job. I can relate to that. My experience is that...

Re: Keeping Current With Fresh Posts

Thank you. I completely agree, Whilst we can't force people to post X number of posts a week (and I wouldn't want that) it would be great if it were more lively here. I try to answer posts that are going unanswered where I can as I'm conscious people in many cases will be feeling a bit distressed an...

Re: Losing jobs.

Hi again. I don't think I'd last long in a factory job. Personally I'm not a fan of employment agencies. I think quite a few employers just use them to fill short term posts and I feel like, why should there be a middleman taking a cut from my hourly rate. They're mainly seeking to get people in job...

Re: Losing jobs.

Hi Swerving Centaur and welcome The problem of how and when to disclose troubles many of us. Having to adapt to a new employer, role and colleagues is likely to be disproportionately difficult for many of us I find selling myself really difficult but have managed to improve a bit. I fell at the inte...

Re: Boredom and anger

VD can also stand for Veneareal Disease (aka STDs which is oddly amusing perhaps). That said it's a bit uncharitable. Yeah they should get a room and it can feel difficult to be happy for them sometimes but wouldn't we all like the same for ourselves? I'm guessing teaching isn't your ideal career ch...

Re: Dyspraxia- a broader approach is needed?

Agree but not sure there is much of even a narrow approach and inclined to feel most help (where it is even offered) seems to be aimed at ameliorating physical or sensory impairment To me at lot of the difficulty stems from the less than helpful attitude of others/generally held societal attitudes, ...
