Re: What are your dyspraxia symptoms

I am 72 years old and retired. It only began to dawn on me about 5 years ago that I had dyspraxia. The symptoms that were most noticeable on the surface was my lifelong struggle with left and right and my clumsiness with tying my shoes. When someone was giving me directions, they insisted on saying ...

Re: Has anyone with dyspraxia passed first aid?

No, I didn't take first aid courses, however I should have, because you never know when it will be helpful to you, don't you? My neighbor's grandfather had a heart attack, and she couldn't give him first aid while waiting for the doctors. As a result, her grandfather almost died. And because she ...

Re: Friendships

Not all the ti, d to be honest, I had cbt alor, its working a lot better now then it did. I find it harder with newer to be honest . I had some sessions of CBT prior to discovering/being told I was dyspraxic. Only on later on reflection did I fully appreciate the CBT probably helped me to process ...

Re: Friendships

I believe part of the problem is that people often seem to have less time for others, especially so when telling certain friends /family / others that we're not feeling ok or are anxious/worried. Often we can get trapped into overthinking, especially when there's little or nothing to challenge our ...

Re: How to date not being able to drive? (Man)

I too am a non-driver due to visual impairment. Dating is definitely more challenging and some ladies can't see past me not driving. That's their loss but it still v much hurts to be dismissed as it makes us compare ourselves. I don't think there's an easy answer but I'm sure there is someone who ...

Re: Dyspraxia and maths

Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), can have a bigger impact on adult mathematical performance than previously thought, according to new research from the University of Surrey. DCD is a prevalent neuro developmental movement condition affecting approximately 5% of ...

Re: Dyspraxia + diabetes

Hi Gingerka I'm not aware of a direct connection between Dyspraxia and Diabetes, though I can understand some of the difficulties with dyspraxia could make managing his Type 1 Diabetes more challenging. We're primarily an adult group rather than a parents group so no guarantee our readership will ...

Re: I HATE DYSPRAXIA!

To what extent do we hold ourselves to impossibly high standards because we perceive that those we look up to will expect that.

How do we learn that comparing ourselves is so often an unfair unobjective comparison.

Re: Private assessment

Abbie I entirely agree it's neither right or fair for people to struggle. Awareness and recognition has generally improved but depending on when/where you were schooled and how good SEN provision was a lot of pupils slip through. There was a bias in that it was considered something that only really ...

Re: Hi, I think I'm Dyspraxic

I think it all too often can cause internal frustration that can cause us to vent frustration either upon ourselves or loved ones

Glad your GP appointment turned out much more fruitfully than we pessimistically predicted.
