Re: Dyspraxia vs long distance relationships

Chat every night on the Internet or on the phone. Try to find a way of meeting up as often as possible. Can there ever be such a thing as getting over excited when being touched? :D I think the key is staying in regular contact, which may often prove much more challenging in a long distance relation...

Re: Growing up dyspraxic?

I totally understand about your need to find answers. When I was a teen there was less known about dyspraxia, so only the physical aspect was ever mentioned. Tom is right, dyspraxia has many advantages too. For instance, many of us are smarter than average because we are able to fixate/obsess about ...

Re: Growing up dyspraxic?

I agree with Tom re: a formal diagnosis. It's more than possible that you have dyspraxia - your symptoms do seem to fit perfectly. I guess only a professional diagnostician or OT can answer your question as to whether you have it or not, but your description does indicate it may be worth pursuing a ...

Re: help

You are definitely not a lost cause. If you are undiagnosed and feel it would help, it might be worth seeing your gp and asking for an assessment. It depends if you think it will help.

Feel free to send me a pm if you feel lonely and want to chat. We can all relate to your experiences. :)

Re: Online Dating Progress

@uniquecharlie,

I don't think you will be alone forever...you are only 23. You have ages yet.

The whole relationship thing can be very frustrating...from now on, I won't give up but I won't fret if nothing happens either. I guess Jim and Tom are right in that I'll just take a break for now.

Re: Online Dating Progress

Thanks. I think it's probably best not to go seeking anything and if anything happens, all well and good...if not, I will try to (slowly) convince myself that that is fine too. I find seeking women out is really pretty demoralising in so many different ways, especially for us guys with dyspraxia who...

Re: Online Dating Progress

I have given up with women. I am 33 now and know that nothing will ever happen however much I want to get married/have a family etc. I don't want to get desperate and settle for someone who is not suitable, and relationships have never been a success of mine - far from it! I guess it's about time th...

Re: Need some advice for a situation with my bf

Nothing to do with dyspraxia. I'd leave him if I were you, but whatever your choice, the best of luck. :)

Re: Struggling to find love

You don't need a girlfriend or to kiss a girl to be worthy of love or feel valued, Mark. So many people are in crappy/failing relationships these days that it's totally meaningless anyway.

You are fine and great as you are. Having sex/kissing a girl proves absolutely nothing.

Re: Dyspraxia vs. Aspergers

I have many AS traits. I get obsessions and I don't always know how to behave around others. But I am improving and gaining in confidence. :)

Re: Any single dyspraxic peeps!!!

Being single can be rubbish at times....but on the positive side, it's better than what a lot of people have....being with someone who doesn't really love them, and being in a relationship that doesn't work out. We are all sometimes guilty of idealising relationships IMO. Although sometimes I wish I...

Re: Adult Fiction

You've got some classics in their Mattie! Glad to see you're enjoying The Dark materials trilogy. I was so disappointed they cut the last third of the book out of the film! Have you ever read any Neil Gaiman books? You might enjoy Neverwhere and American Gods, the later is a blend of fantasy and my...
