Do professionals not believe in the diagnosis?

Ok..so have been trying to get a diagnosis for over a yr..sent to a neurologist..who did not believe in "dyspraxia"- unhelpful word apparently for "clumsy". Then got an MRI scan anyway..no brain damage but I do have a birth diagnosis of asphyxiation..could this have affected it? ...

Re: Can you swim?

Interesting to find this. It took me a long time to learn how to swim, but even then could not find a stroke where I could move in a synchronised way that would hold me up for very long. I always seem to lose the rhythm of the stroke very easily.

Re: Does Dyspraxia make you who you are

I think it can affect how you respond to things, things you can do etc...but not really who you are. For instance, well done on the driving thing, in that you were driving..ok maybe not straight..but you went out there and kept trying and persevered, whatever your best came to. I tried, it was hopel...

Re: DOES ANY SLEEP A LOT LIKE 14 HOURS

I can surprisingly function well on not much sleep, as I have experienced. But I do make myself get about 8 hours. I always wake up about same time any day I don't work. And it's never very late. It's usually after about 7 or so hours sleep..but problem is when i let myself fall asleep again I can s...

Re: Religion

Maybe I could have been more clear. What I should have said ws science and christianity. Yes I am categorising it under this "religion" title more generally. However, I was not really meaning to take it to make a sweeping generalisation. It was more an observtion of the christian faith, an...

Re: Religion

Wow, I like all this kinda discussion. Coming across this on the forum is really good-ike this kinda debate. I have to say, I am not sure exactly what form of God I believe in, but I have never understood the tension between science and religion. It seems to have been created as a way to divide peop...

Re: Social situations

Thanks. I totally see where you're coming from. This has been my experience to an extent (with me also wondering do I expect a bit too much from people?) But I don't think so, cos I do always say, if there is a problem let me know, to which I am told- nah, i just got X, Y and Z on.."it's my iss...

Social situations

Ok..so this been bothering me quite a lot recenntly, and just wondered if anyone else had similar problems with social anxiety? I went through a period of this a number of years ago, but over past year it's got worse. (Partly due to fact I have had a few bad experiences, and maybe my my lack of self...

Wow, kinda jealous- they all look real interesting! And I would say you sound real passionate about what you wanna do- but only you can really know what you like the best. But if you reaally think about why you are passionate about these interests, that will help you in the interview. Also, you come...

So inspiring..

I came across this link- more generally for anyone with any sort of sensory difficulty...but I found it very uplifting and inspring, particuarly as an adult just getting to grips with dyspraxia....

Re: can you Help me?

Hiya, I don't know much about the site itself- but i think there is a way you can get these codes on audio..cos they can be hard to make out. don't worry about getting it wrong, it's easy done. also, if u think ur computer is not properly reading passcodes u enter u could try clearing cookies?

Re: High Verbal IQ's .....

Not neccessarily high verbal. But you may have read that famous people with dyspraxia, are writers, actors, theorists etc. As I understand it, the brain kinda balances itself out. While dyspraxics lack in coordination, visual perception , manipulation etc..they are often highly creative and big thin...
