Re: My dyspraxic boyfriend

Relatedly (though not entirely, I'm to shy to start a thread on this)

Does anyone have hypersensitivity problems? and is it an issue in terms of getting up to stuff? I don't mean to be crude by asking, but the worry about sensory overload is one of my major hang ups.

Re: How to read people (esp. when joking)

I fail at humor. Few pepoles pepoles jokes are funny to me, and my (intentional) jokes aren't funny to anyone else. I've gotten better at giving other people the benifit of the doubt though. Also when I tease my friends they no longer expect me to sound like I'm joking, in exchange for better undest...

Re: Electric noise

I can't sleep in the same room as a watch. When my dad or brother leave their computers on, I cannot sleep. I can hear the fridge from my room.

Re: Other Illnesses

Dyspraxia isn't really an illness...

I have hayfever, mild exma, and a few other alergy problems.

Re: Hair care

I have loose natrual curls (wow, that sounds so much nicer on paper), so I just go with that. I shower in the evening, comb it through, and go to bed with it wet so it's not drying with weight on it. If it's a really special occasion, I might even scrunch in some mouse before going out.

Re: high pain thresholds

I respond differently to diffenret kinds of pain. Mostly I think it's that I have a normal threshold, but am a wuss when it comes to some things. I cannot tell if I burn my mouth on hot liquids or food, to the point I once took a cookie out of my mouth because of the bubbly feeling and sizzling soun...

Re: DOES ANY SLEEP A LOT LIKE 14 HOURS

I need 10 hrs sleep a night. I can get away with as little as 8 if I'm just around the house knitting, reading, and watching stuff. If I'm busy, I can need up to 12.

Sadly my uni work takes me longer than most, and during termtime I'm looking at 8 hrs when I'm needing the 12.

Re: Gender divide

I think there are different pressures on men and women still, but it seems both have their problems with dyspraxia. Women "should" remember birthdays, recognise pepole, multitask, etc Men "should"be good at sports and physical tasks, be focused on the task at hand, etc I have onl...

I can't remember the exact numbers, but there's 96/97 percentiles difference between my processing speed and my verbal reasoning.

Guess which one was which...

Hi

Hi, I'm Alice. I've been on the dyspraxic teens forum for quite some time, but I feel that a forum for slightly older pepole will gradually also become relevent. That's why I decided to join this forum. I'm a 19 year old dyspraxic physics student, with symptoms from aspergers and ADHD (did not waren...
