Re: Panic attacks

Hi Waylander, I get them too with driving too; chewing gum and cars are a match made in Heaven! I also find audio books are useful, as it helps the brain if there is something to distract it. Chillout music as well works a treat, especially familiar tracks as association builds the impact. Hope the ...

Re: Panic attacks

I have failed and failed and failed with the driving... Corrine Don't give up! I wrote off 3 cars and had 10 crashes, but practice (eventually) makes perfect. That said, most of my Dyspraxic friends don't drive, but us Dyspraxics can drive, albeit we do knacker out cars quite quickly... #-o *** Reg...

Re: IF there was a cure for Dyspraxia?

Personally, I would take it, ironically precisely because I'm Dyspraxic and love trying new things. It would probably lead to personality changes (e.g. losing that chaotic creativity), but it would be good to be able to talk to people normally, without fear of saying something dumb and to not be con...

Re: dyspraxia & depression

Hi kdt, I do Gym too and used to do running, as it somehow mitigates the physical frustration of Dyspraxia by giving the brain something that it's relatively easy to do. I have a few Dyspraxic friends who are similar - I think frustration with our bodies and the judgemental morons that persecute us ...

Dyspraxia and Orgasmic Happiness

The only topic I seem to get regular emails on is 'Dyspraxia & Depression'. Though this does need to be shared and discussed, I thought we should start a positive version to balance things out. To kick off discussions, I thought I'd list 10 things (IMHO) that make being Dyspraxic great: 1. Sense...

Re: dyspraxia & depression

Hey Bonny, Don't let it get you down - I 'came out' as Dyspraxia a year ago and realised there's nothing to fear. A friend of mine described it as like putting your finger part way across the end of a flowing hose - you may not have all the abilities of a normal person, but those abilities you do ha...

Re: dyspraxia & depression

I agree with the previous commenter that "Our bodies do not obey us and it causes anxiety and depression." I've found this lately as it always seems an attack of chaos comes along just when you're about to achieve something. It often feels like, when I'm anxious about something, it's like ...

Remedies for Dyspraxia

I have several cousins who have Dyspraxia (or Dyspraxic tendencies) and it is common wisdom in our family that, as a result, we are late developers and normally start to overcome the difficulties of Dyspraxia in our late 20's. As overcoming Dyspraxia (if such a thing is possible) seems to be a matte...

Re: Star Trek - Pro or Anti Dyspraxic?

None taken. :)

I think it might just be coincidence, though 'Praxia' does crop up quite frequently in Star Trek & Ancient Greek stories probably did it on purpose too.

I doubt they were saying anything specific about Dyspraxia, but you never know...
