Can I be a cheek and plug my book?

Well, they say those of us with (in my case undiagnosed) dyspraxia are the creative types... My debut novel is in the final throes of being edited as we speak and will be sent off to my publisher in a couple of weeks! If anyone is interested, information is here... http://www.hirstpublishing.com ...

Re: Romantic relationships

My pennyworth... I've had two "and a bit" relationships. The first with a girl I met online via a music forum, back in the early days of forming relationships online, 2001. NO IDEA she liked me, but on MSN a mutual friend kept dropping hints. The girl herself finally said something like "why do you ...

Spare a tenner, guvnor? ;-)

Well, I finally have my "intial consultation" with the Nuffield. It's been a YEAR since Dyspraxia was first suggested. At least (for now) I don't have to venture to London like I feared. It's the week after next. And it's not going to be cheap. £150-ish and that's before a diagnosis. Value range ...

Or meetings. I did that yesterday. I just drift off. Not to sleep (well, not often) but just get distracted.

Re: Ironically, I'd forgotten I'd joined this forum!

Update! My GP has referred me to the Nuffield Hospital. All I have to do is wait now. My GP asked me to phone him (I'm petrified of calling) and I feel really bad that my mum had to take over the call as I was just not getting myself across. I'm 33 for gawd's sake. :( All it was was that he wanted ...

Re: Independent Dyslexia Consultants - anyone used them?

Thanks also! Does he work for IDC?

Just found details about him online. Sounds me like he only diagnoses children from his page. As you've been diagnosed, I'm assuming this isn't the case!

Re: Independent Dyslexia Consultants - anyone used them?

Excellent! Thank you.

Can I plague you with a couple of other questions then...

How long did you have to wait for an appointment/then for a diagnosis?
Is it a one off assessment? (I'm 300 miles from their centre)
Was that the total cost?

Ta!

Independent Dyslexia Consultants - anyone used them?

Just got a (no doubt) automated reply from these people today saying that an assessment would cost £450, which I guess is about right. So, before I splash my uncle's inheritance on this, has anyone used them? Are they legit? Did you get results? This review is all I can find... http://www.yelp.co.uk/ ...

Re: Dream/ Ideal job for a Dyspraxic

I'm also a librarian in a university library.

Doesn't always suit me as a lot of it is nothing to do with books. Invoicing and spreadsheets, number crunching. Not me.

Ironically, I'd forgotten I'd joined this forum!

Now if that isn't an example of dyspraxia in practice I don't know what is. Anyhow, you may recall (or not!!) that I'd been mugged in 2009, which in turn led to counselling sessions, which in turn led to the suggestion of dyspraxia. I was referred to a clinical psychologist and told I'd be ...

Alas it wasn't about dyspraxia. It was concerning confusion spells following my heart valve replacement! My referral for dyspraxia will be at Bootham Park!

Re: "Can we have a little chat?"

Thanks! Yes, it was a male doctor. Mind you, he's better than the locum who once wouldn't agree I was suffering from post traumatic stress from the mugging!

I really REALLY hope I haven't shot myself in the foot today.

Re: "Can we have a little chat?"

Well, work know all about it now. I asked for the "chat" to be moved forward (from 3 to 11!) so I wasn't panicking about it. A couple of people knew of dyspraxia, a couple had never heard of it. I told the main six people I deal with on a daily basis. Thought I put my foot in it for a bit when I ...
