Re: My 10 regular blunders with mobile phones
Bit of a thread ressurection but i've just spotted that JCB (they of big digging machines fame) have started selling a simple to use mobile phone that's totally and utterly impossible to break. There's no camera or other "widgets", but the buttons are apparently designed to be used with gl...

Re: Basic requirements whe looking for love
That revised list is easily achievable, I myself have a full head of hair (best before 2014), only two fillings, shave and bathe regularly and have been known to be kind...

Re: Basic requirements whe looking for love
1) are kind and thoughtful There are a few of us that can do this 2) are understanding of differences, and don't expect everyone to act like clones! see 1) 3) have "gentleman" like manners ( open doors, don't fart or belch just for fun, see their dates to their frontdoor, don't pressureris...

IIRC a turn in the road/3-point turn was part of my test practice so was part of the test in 2003

Re: How long did it take you to learn to drive?
A hill start is simply starting off from rest while on a hill, terribly simple in an automatic, more a challenge in a manual. It was apparently a bit of a problem in East Anglia (imagine a smaller version of the Mid-West, flat as a pancake in all directions), in Peterborough you had to do your test ...

Re: I hate public transport
Rural Wales has terrible public transport. From my house to the train station is 7 miles, and while there is a bus service from just outside my house to the station and the town where I work, it takes half an hour or more. Driving to town takes me 10-15 minutes at the most, and going further is much...

Re: How long did it take you to learn to drive?
Thanks for that Michele, the UK test is somthing like the following: Written test (computerised) and a "Hazard perception" test (you view a video and have to spot potential hazards), this must be passed before you can take a driving test. The driving test consists of a quick sight test (ba...

Re: How long did it take you to learn to drive?
I think it's based on the fact that in the US you see driving as a much more vital life skill than we do. Also, what does the US driving test consist of? Is it different between states? The UK driving test is apparently much more difficult than the US equivalent. For the record I took about a year t...

Re: No sense of direction.
Before a long journey I tend to study a map very carefully, using the automatic route finder on http://www.rac.co.uk or http://www.theaa.com to get a rough idea of where to go. The other thing I do is sometimes I'll take a less direct, but easier to navigate route as I'll hopefully spend less time l...

Re: Love
(Please forgive the following analogy, I've started on some cider...) Finding someone to share your life with is like trying to find a nice pair of shoes. You always end up trying a load on or even buying some that are uncomfortable or wear out too fast etc. The trick is to keep looking and you'll e...

Re: any help me about chatting 2 women
The first thing to do is NOT TO PANIC , then it's a case of simply going up and striking up a conversation about this or that. If it comes to nowt then simply move on. It's all a case of having some confidence in yourself*

Re: It's very quiet in here!
It's been a bit hectic at work, and as I work with PCs all day I tend to come home and slump across the sofa rather than surf the net much. Still, i'd best get me backside in gear and post!

In resturants I tend to take my time and usually end up finishing last, performance anxiety maybe?
