Re: Dyspraxia and depression

One common trait with dyspraxia is a tendency to have a low pain tolerance. I also have problems getting out of bed and getting ready to do things. I'm not sure if this is because of dyspraxia. I have suffered from bouts of depression in the past, but even when i'm feeling okay, i still have days wh...

Re: How did you find out about the Dyspraxic Adults Forum?

Yay!! I am that dyspraxic bud!! Joke. How do two dyspraxics change a lightbulb? First they try to find the ladder. The break a window trying to carry the ladder over the light. They attempt to set up the ladder. They catch their fingers in the ladder. They kick the ladder in frustration and it falls...

Re: My boyf has dyspraxia. HELP!

You should get him to join the forum as well. I didn't understand anything about dyspraxia until I was 19 even though I had been diagnosed since I was seven. If he's been diagnosed and has made his employers aware of his disability, it's actually illegal to dismiss someone because of this without pr...

Re: The Wii

I am awesome at Wii boxing. I have no concievable technique, but I'm ferocious and I ALWAYS beat my opponents. This makes me happy as in real life a child could knock me down. Does anyone else get nervy when they are playing platform games? I get so paranoid that I'm going to fall off that I lose co...

Re: I am the mother of a dyspraxic child

Natty, you're email was so touching and Calitxu, you're an inspiration. My experience of dyspraxia in school was strange. I was diagnosed at a really early age (around five or six) because my mum noticed that I was having problems walking and my motor skills weren't developing as well as they should...

Humour

Due to the nature of Dyspraxia, and consequently always falling over, forgetting things, having strange phobia's, getting lost in my thoughts whilst talking to someone, generally being disorganised and just clumsy in life, I've had to develop a very strange sense of humour. I love mad things, anythi...

Re: I'm learning to drive

I've failed my test four times already. Nerves seem to be my problem. However, I do get sensory overload, and my anxiety comes from that. I have just bought a manual car though, and I'm determined to get my test in a manual. My driving instructor cant understand why I haven't got my test yet, so I t...

Re: How many driving tests?

I have taken my test twice already and failed both times. However, I don't know if this is true for other people, but I failed because I panicked. The first time I tried to move off in third gear, and didn't realise what i was doing. The examiner had to tell me, and if they have to tell you how to d...

Hey once again

Hey guys, It's been a really long time since I've been here last (moved jobs and then didn't have access to a computer, now I do  ) How has everyone been doing? Hope you're all still remaining amused at the many silly things dyspraxia can cause a person to do. Like fail their driving test by...

Re: Men

If he has a friend that he sees at weekends, then why can't he see you? Why doesn't he introduce you to his friend? This guy sounds like he is giving you the run around, and you deserve so much better. If he doesn't want to be with you, he should tell you to your face and not keep stringing you arou...

Re: Dyspraxic friendly jobs

I had always despaired being dyspraxic in terms of my career options. My degree is in Drama and throughout my course, I focused on production, particularly stage and costume management. However, when I graduated, I found that I lacked the focus to help me work freelance in theatre, and I became quic...

Re: Dyspraxia and depression

I think any form of illness or disability has the potential to be a cause for depression. When you feel like there is something holding you back from what you really want to do, it's definitely difficult. Especially when you feel that this "causes" failure. However, if you failed your PGCE...

I'm surrouded by them! By mum is dyspraxic (it appears to be herederity in our family) but my best friend and house mate is also dyspraxic. I know another girl who also has it. It's nice having such a good friend who understands what its all about. We share our dyspraxic stories.
